Fair Ivy: October 2013 – Package #3

So this review is coming a little late, but it’s because my postman randomly decided that this package somehow required a signature (unlike the eleventybillion other packages I get) and so took it to the post office where it was then held hostage.  I work in NYC and live in NJ, so I am almost never home during the hours that the aforementioned post office is open.  The slip was MIA so I couldn’t bribe my boyfriend to pick it up for me creating quite a dilemma.  Thankfully, the kind folks at Fair Ivy and the gracious makers behind my item sent me a new one because I was having a meltdown trying to figure out how to procure this package.Bag

Purse
Verdict:
Hit!

It turns out it was a lovely purse from Dulcinas, which is a collection of jewelry and accessories designed and handmade by Claudia Anaya.  The designs are “inspired by the past infused with a vintage chic vibe using repurposed jewelry, vintage baubles and findings…”

I am a sucker for all things vintage and I adore that this purse came with a matching storage bag (which was also used in the purse lining).  I don’t actually own any white bags (I tend to shy away from them because subways and white fabric do not mix) but this is more of a special occasion bag so it will be avoiding my daily commute.  The simplicity of the color choice means that it will match pretty much anything.  I also have a collection of vintage brooches that will look perfect pinned to this little guy and will be a great way to glam it up.

There isn’t an exact version of this in Claudia’s shop, but most of her bags retail for $16.00 so I will estimate that as the value.

OVERALL
Package #1Fabled Soap Co.  “Pumpkin Spice” soap = $5.00
Package #2 – Candice Vostrejs Silver stud earrings = $15.00
Package #3Dulcinas, Vintage bag = $16.00

Total $36.00

So my other two October items were the adorable pumpkin soap and the even more adorable silver stud earrings.  I had to estimate values based on similar items, which put my October Fair Ivy box somewhere in the neighborhood of $36.00.  While I did pay $48 (including shipping), I still think I got my value since most of these items could not be purchased on their own and seem to be exclusive to this subscription.  Each was well made and I will use all of them.

THE BACKSTORY

Fair Ivy is a subscription box of beautifully wrapped, handmade items made by individual artisans.

There are two subscription options:

A jewelry only subscription at $25.00 a month (plus shipping) for 1 jewelry item per month.  (This option will ship in the US, Canada & the UK).

Or

An original subscription at $40.00 a month (plus shipping) of 3 handmade items (1 item will be jewelry).  (This option only ships in the US).

Because the items ship directly from the artisans, if you choose an original subscription you will receive the packages individually throughout the month.

DISCOUNT CODE:  NEWSLETTER2 will get you $2.00 off either subscription.
