I had mentioned I’d be featuring some new subscriptions and when I found a great deal on 3 months of Naturebox, I jumped on it. Naturebox sends you healthy snacks each month (5 packs per box). The snacks do not contain any: artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners, high fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oil, or trans fat. You have the option of letting Naturebox choose your treats for you, or selecting your own. For more info on Naturebox subscriptions and a coupon code, jump down below.
Now let’s get to the snacking!
Because I, like so many folks out there (and Jessica Simpson), use Weight Watchers, I’m also including Weight Watchers points for each item.
Oat Bran Dippin’ Stix
Serving Size= 1/3 cup
Calories per serving : 170
Weight Watchers points per serving: 5
Description: Sesame Seed covered little crunchy things that you’re supposed to dip in other things that taste better.
Verdict: Total Miss
This was the item in the box that annoyed me because I selected all my treats and this was not one of them. Instead of my dark cocoa almonds they threw this in and said “try this instead.” Listen Naturebox, if I wanted something with the word “oat bran” in it, I would have chosen it. I chose something with the word “cocoa” in it. Sufficed it to say, I was not amused. To me these just taste like crunching on a metric ton of sesame seed. I think they’d be okay in a party mix with nuts and other snacks to offset the taste, but alone they are just not good. I guess that’s why they are called “dipping sticks”, but then you’re just adding more calories and points by being required to dip them into something.
Apple Orchards Granola
Serving Size= 1/2 cup
Calories per serving : 240
Weight Watchers points per serving: 7
Description: Super soft granola that tastes like an apple-y oatmeal Cookie
Verdict: Love!
This was different than any granola I’ve tried. It was moist and really tasted like an oatmeal cookie. My one issue is that for granola, this bag is really small. Once I took a single serving, there was only about half a bag left.
Baked Peppery Potato Fries
Serving Size= 1 oz
Calories per serving : 130
Weight Watchers points per serving: 4
Description: Weirdly shaped crackers masquerading around as “fries”
Verdict: Miss
For me these had very little flavor and I certainly didn’t get a “potato” vibe from them. They were just skinny crackers without particularly interesting seasoning.
Salted Caramel Pretzel Pops
Serving Size= 1/3 cup
Calories per serving : 110
Weight Watchers points per serving: 3
Description: Circular salt licks in the shape of little balls and mislabeled as “pretzels”
Verdict: The pretzels are a lie.
I don’t know how something with the words “caramel” and “pretzel” could taste so horrific, so utterly, contemptibly awful, but they do. All I could taste was salt, like a big crunchy ball of salt, while my boyfriend’s assessment was “like biting into sawdust”. These were pretty much inedible.
Sourdough Cheddar Pretzels
Serving Size= 9 pieces
Calories per serving : 120
Weight Watchers points per serving: 3
Description: Cheesy Pretzel-ly Goodness
Verdict: Love!
These pretzels were so good. Similar to the flavored Snyder’s pretzel nuggets, but much much better. If you choose to order Naturebox, you must give these a try.
So I got a great deal for a 3 month subscription on Groupon and with a small Groupon credit, I ended up paying only $20 for a 3 month subscription. That comes out to about $6.67 per box. For that price, I’m quite happy with it, but if I paid $19.95 I’d be pretty disappointed. The granola was delicious, but a really small size for something like granola. The salted caramel pretzel pops were inedible and the oat bran sticks were not what I selected nor were they even similar to the item I selected.
I’m happy with this box at my steep discount, but I won’t be paying full price for this, so it seems pretty likely I’ll be canceling after my 3 months are up.
Do you subscribe to Naturebox? If you do, what are your favorite and least favorite treats?

I have nature box, my only box, the dried fruit, the nuts, and the trail mixes are good. The fire crackers are also a favorite. I haven’t tried the ones you hated and I hope I never do!
I really wanted to try some of the nuts, but they gave me those sesame stick things instead. For next month I put two different kinds of nuts on my list, so hopefully I’ll at least get to try one!
I got them for a while when I was getting a discount like you. But I cancelled because $19.95 is WAY overpriced in my opinion. PS the dried apple rings are pretty good and the dark cocoa almonds are the BEST…like I would get a box with 5 bags of just those LOL (im sure people do and thats why they were out of stock!) 🙂 Cant wait to see they rest of your nature box picks
I think the most I’d pay for this box would be in the neighborhood of $10 (maybe $12) dollars per month. $20 is way too much. If the bags were twice the size, I could see the higher price tag. I put the dark cocoa almonds down again on my list along with another type of almond. I’m crossing my fingers I get them and not something bizarre.
Yes, the only reason I continue to get this box is that I receive it for 50% off under a promotion I signed up for. We get the type where you get two bags of 5 snacks. Not even close to worth the full price!
I’m getting nature box and I’m going to cancel it. It just is too much for what they send.
It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who thinks so. I’m someone who actually measures out the portions of snacks (gotta love Weight Watchers) so I know I’m not just taking too much at a time.
What snacks did you try? Did you get anything wonderful or terrible?
I got a few that I’ve loved and a few that I hated. There was this one sweet potato fry cracker that tasted awful!! It was disgusting! There was this apple figgy bar that was good and I do like some of their trail mixes. I haven’t had a chance to cancel it yet because I have to call them instead of doing it online.
I’m so glad you did this post – I’ve been so close to hitting buy a few times when they had a first box at half price offer popping up everywhere. I’m happy I didn’t hit buy – its so hard to know what a box is like without a review. I also loved your descriptions! So far the only box I do is graze for $6 and its average but a little over priced. 🙂
Thanks! I’m so glad you found it helpful. I’ve been wanting to try some food boxes, but it’s been hard to figure out what’s really worth it. I was willing to give this one a shot because of my big discount. Right now, the only other “food related” box I’ll be trying is the Quarterly Andrew Zimmern box. That’s food related, but will probably be less snack stuff and more cooking related food items. I’m going to keep my eyes open for some other cool ones because I’d really love to find a good snack box.
I love the verdict and your humor & honesty!!
Thanks so much for reading!
