Memebox – Color box #3 (Blue): July 2014

So today we’ll be reviewing a fun new box I’ve just discovered.

Memebox (pronounced Mi-mi-box) is the #1 beauty box provider in Korea and has recently come to the US. Their boxes included the “most trusted most trusted, best-loved Korean beauty products at everyday prices.” Memebox carries 4 main types of beauty boxes: Memebox, Memebox Special Editions, Superbox and Luckybox along with full-size, Korean beauty products in their Memeshop. Unlike subscriptions, you purchase these boxes individually as they are released, so this is a great option for the commitment phobes who don’t want to be locked into a beauty subscription. There are tons of fun themes and pricing options. For more details on the boxes and some awesome coupon codes jump down to the backstory.

Now let’s get to the box.

The lovely folks at Memebox sent me Color Box #3 (Blue) to review. Their description of it reads: “Colorbox was created for our Korean beauty lovers who want to spice up their lives with our bold color series. Our Colorbox is arranged with 3 to 4 full products and deluxe samples of the respective color so that you can have a taste of our bold colors.”

Open Box

I’ve been loving blue this season, so I’m already excited about this box.

This box ships directly from Korea but it arrived in a timely fashion in adorable packaging.

Lipstick Lipstick Swatch
Ruahin Magic Lipstick Blue
(Retail: $30.00)
Description: This super unique lipstick has a blue visual, but when applied on your lips , its color will turn into a light purple…this Magic Lipstick is a multi-player working as a lip tint, lip gloss, and a lip balm all in one.”
Verdict: Love!
They had me at “magic lipstick”. So this lipstick does turn purple and ends up looking bruise colored on me, but I love this product for tinting other lip colors. Some products tend to go weirdly orange on me, and I think this will be perfect layered over them to give a cooler tone. The product felt nice going on (like a balm) and lasted for a very long time (like a stain). I also find these color changing lip products to be super fun.

Polish #1 Polish #2
Dearberry Today Nail Laquer #32 Twilight
(Retail: $3.00)
(8 oz. Retail: $21.95)
Description: Today Nail Laquer series offers over 40 different nail colors and provides a wide color spectrum for picking just the right shade for each day’s mood.! This ufn nail laquer applies onto your nails very thinly yet vividly with just one touch.”
Verdict: Hit!
This product went on smoothly and opaque in just one coat and the shade is lovely. The cap is very wide and interesting to work with. I’m shocked this only retails for $3.00 as the formula is quite nice.

 Shadow Shadow Swatch
L’OCEAN Eye Shadow L-62 Dark Blue Pearl
(Retail: $10.00)
Description: “L’OCEAN’s eye shadows come in various trendy colors, all of which are velvety smooth, long-lasting and extremely vivid in color. They are specifically designed to compliment different colors of outfits and skin types.”
Verdict: Hit!
I keep experimenting with blue eyeshadow since I feel like it really compliments my brown eyes. This one went on smoothly and is more of an 80s blue than my usual navy picks. I’m going to have to spend some time mixing it with some of my other shades to get a cohesive look, but I think it will be fun to work with.

Liner Liner Swatch
Tosowoong Gel Pencil Liner 08 Aqua Deep Blue
(Retail: $10.00)
Description: “The gel texture of the liner will allow it to glide easily along your upper and lower eye contours.”
Verdict: Hit!
This liner reminds me a lot of the Vasanti from my Birchbox LE Mermaid box. I loved that one and I really like this one as well. It’s a pretty color and it goes on fairly easily. This is definitely turning out to be my summer of blue.

Full Box
I have to say that this box really made me smile. I found it to be fun and I loved discovering beauty products I’d never seen before. This box was sent to me free for review and is currently sold out, but it was originally $15.00. I think that’s a great price for the items included.

I will definitely be picking up a few Memeboxes in the future so be ready for more reviews. The hardest part will be trying to choose them from all the cool categories.

Have you ever tried a Memebox? If so, which one did you pick and what did you think?

    1. I had no idea what to expect and it was very lovely. I wish I’d known about these boxes when the other colors were still available.

      1. Yeah same, I didn’t know Memebox existed back when these came out. They sent me Orange for review. The Red one had an extra gloss.

Mrrrrf this was just such a pretty set.

      2. I am also intrigued by the scent boxes. I really would have loved to try the rose one. I already ordered another to try. I went with one of the Global boxes.

      3. The rose box looked great! I’ve got four on order right now, but they’re not due to ship until August unfortunately. :/
