Orglamix Glam Box: July 2017 – Beat the Heat + 25% Off

So yesterday I spent my day making my 70s bathroom wallpaper my bitch.   I managed to get it all off and only burn myself *once*.  I call that a win.  So today, before I head out to paint my basement bar a gorgeous shade of blue, I’ve got a review of one of my favorite subscriptions.

The July Orglamix Glam Box had a “Beat the Heat” theme, which is kind of ironic, considering I’m posting this in November and it’s been stupidly hot lately, so it’s still appropriate.

Here’s how Orglamix describes the box: “Don’t sweat your summer look. These beauty products will keep you sexy when it’s scorching outside.  We like it when things get a little seamy, but sticky is another story.  It’s hard to feel flirty when your guy can see his reflection on your forehead and your mascara’s creeping toward your chin.  So we talked to some glamorous real women and found solutions to keep you as gorgeous during the dog days of summer as you are during the rest of the year.  With these items, your look will have no problem surviving the heat…or another hot encounter.”

Hyaluronic Acid Serum
(Estimated Retail: $32.00)
Description: ”Hyaluronic acid is an essential in any healthy skincare regimen (especially as you get older) – and we deliver it in a simple, silky formula.
Verdict:
Serums are a great way to give your skin a little extra treatment.  I’ve used Orglamix’s serums in the past and I’ve found them to be hydrating and they never irritate my skin. I like that this focuses a bit on anti-aging and that this doubles as a primer.

Neroli Floral Essence Setting Spray
(Estimated Retail: $15.00)
Description: “This mist helps keep your makeup from creasing, caking, fading, or sliding around for 12 hours.  Orange Blossom is soothing and toning.  It balances oil and brightens the skin…A few spritzes instantly revives and refreshes makeup, giving skin a much-needed pick-me-up during a steamy day.”
Verdict: Hit!
Setting sprays are perfect fit for a summer box.  I always worry about what types of ingredients are in some of them, so I love this natural option that includes orange blossom ( a favorite scent of mine).

Healthy Bronze Glow Bronzer
(Estimated Retail: $18.00)
Description: “The ideal illuminator is a cross between a blush and a highlighter. You want something subtle that adds warmth to your skin but isn’t overly sparkly.”
Verdict: Too glittery for me
For bronzers, I prefer more matte finishes.  This one is definitely glittery.  I’ll pass this along to a friend who will probably use it more than I will.

Heat Wave – Natural Eyeshadow
(Estimated Retail: $12.50)
Description: The biggest eye makeup trend of Summer 2017 = Red. For a fresh-faced look, keep the color on your upper lids only so that it’s concentrated along the crease and gradually softens as it reaches your brow bone. Or make it smokey. And for something that’s a little more sultry, try a crimson shade on top, and bring it along the lower lashline to frame the eyes completely.”
Verdict: Love!
This is one of those natural shades that looks like you’re just in awesome lighting. I can see using this in a variety of ways and it’s my favorite item in the box.

Citrus Splash Sugar Balm Body Scrub
(Estimated Retail: $12.00)
Description: Don’t let a little scaly skin distract from how cute your new bathing suit is. Instead, stock your shower with a body scrub to remove those pesky dead cells before you hit the beach. (Insider tip: the exfoliator is a self-tan fanatic’s secret weapon for sloughing off flaky skin so that body bronzers sink in evenly.) But not just any handful of granules will do.  Buff away dead and dehydrated skin with Sugar Balm Body Scrub. A little bit sultry, a little bit sweet, the latest scent oozes glamour. Apricot, mandarin, grapefruit and freesia mingle with rose, grapefruit flower and jasmine notes, with a base of musk, sandalwood and cashmeran.”
Verdict: Hit!
Between the hard water at my house and the fact that I spend a lot of time covered in paint, this scrub is perfect.  I’m a huge fan of citrus scents and I think a body scrub fits the theme perfectly.

OVERALL

Verdict:
Hit!
I receive this for free in order to review it, but the regular cost is $29 and the estimated retail value came out to $89.50.  To start, I think Orglamix nailed the theme.  These were practical, but sexy items that were all great for summer.  Even though I won’t use the bronzer, I’m still really happy with the box and it’s value.  I think $29 for a serum, setting spray, eyeshadow and scrub that are all natural, vegan and cruelty free is amazing. I love the creativity and the fun that is always in my Orglamix box.  You can really tell they enjoy making these products and putting these boxes together.

Orglamix Glam Box: June 2017 – I’d Rather Be a Mermaid + 25% Off

So, it’s been a bit of a rough week.  I somehow managed to manage to fracture my tooth by doing absolutely nothing.  My dentist thinks I did it my sleep, so apparently when the lights go out I’m doing some kind of unconscious Three Stooges routine.  So after a tooth pulling, a bone graft, some stitches, antibiotics and a touch of Percocet, I’m back in business.  On a related note, tooth implants are expensive, so please buy my awesome book “The Ice Maiden’s Tale” so maybe my next royalty check can cover some floss.

I’m determined to kick off my Friday on a brighter note, so I’ve got one of my fave boxes to review.

The June Orglamix Glam Box had a “I’d Rather Be a Mermaid” theme. “This month we rounded up five finds for your inner mermaid.  You can float on like an underwater goddess with these mermaid-inspired beauty products.  From sparkling blue eyeshadow to iridescent highlighters, you’ll feel like you’re back in the ocean and swimming with the fishes without leaving home.  Channel your own inner mermaid.”

SHUT THE HELL UP!  Maybe it’s the red hair, but mermaid products will win me every single time.  My favorite box theme of the year!

Rainbow Fish Contour Makeup Brush
(Estimated Retail: $16.99)
Description: ”Our magical rainbow fish brush is the perfect catch. It’s designed with soft, synthetic bristles and features a versatile, kabuki-inspired design to easily sweep on allover cheek color.  The easy-grip handle can be tilted down at an angle to sculpt and slip the contours of the face.”
Verdict: I don’t know how I could love this more
It’s a pretty shiny brush that looks like a fish’s tail! I’ve been lusting after all the funky Storybook Cosmetics brushes so this is right up my alley.  It’s going to find a prominent place on my makeup vanity.

Mermaid Hair Don’t Care – Nourishing Hair Mask
(Estimated Retail: $16.00)
Description: A luxurious, deep conditioning treatment for hair’s total restoration. For ultimate repair & deep conditioning, the Nourishing Hair Mask directly penetrates the surface of the hair. Used weekly, this fortifying hydrator infuses locks with extra moisture while sealing split ends—resulting in total hair recovery & restoration. The at-home salon treatment is lightweight enough for all hair types and is designed to provide nourishment, shine, & improved elasticity.”
Verdict: LOVE!
I’m actually always on the lookout for new hair masks, so automatically that’s a win.  Throw in a mermaid theme and I’m sold.

Mermaid Kisses – Organic Lip Scrub
(Estimated Retail: $12.50)
Description: “Lip Scrub is enriched with a soothing combination of natural ingredients to moisturize, exfoliate, and prep your lips. Unlike many exfoliators, it is very gentle and moisturizing.  ”
Verdict: Like
I’m not huge on lip scrubs, but hits one is pretty adorable.

   Mermaid Tears – Natural Eyeshadow
(Estimated Retail: $12.50)
Description: ”Blue eyeshadow is officially the beauty move of the summer. Toss your preconceived notions of graphic liner aside: It doesn’t have to be all neat and precise to look cool. To create an impressionistic swoop, use a slanted angle brush. All you have to do is make one swiping motion along the creases and along the outer corners.”
Verdict: Why is a Mermaid’s sadness so beautiful?
My second box product called “Mermaid Tears”. (The other was from NCLA and in my June Popsugar Box).  I probably should feel bad, like, it’s implying I’m using a mermaid’s grief for my own gain, but it’s so damn pretty.  Sorry, Ariel.

Mermaid Vibes – Holographic Trio
(Estimated Retail: $19.00)
Description: An eye, lip, and face transformer palette with three holographic shades. Revamp your makeup looks with this innovative palette. It’s perfect for achieving a spectrum of radiant, special effects by layering shades over eyeshadow and lipstick. Each of the shades within catches the light from every angle for a spectrum of luminizing special effects—perfect for customizing finishes and exploring your artistic expression.”
Verdict: The legend continues…
Okay, I know the swatch is like mostly useless, because these products are on the subtle side, but I still love them.  I’ll have to experiment with this palette because I think it can add a lot of interest to tons of products.  It gives a little bit of iridescence without adding glitter – which is my favorite type of highlighter.  A unique, fun addition to the box.

OVERALL
Verdict:
Who wouldn’t rather be a mermaid?
I receive this for free in order to review it, but the regular cost is $29 and the estimated retail value came out to $76.99.  I think it’s obvious by now that I loved the box theme.  Even putting that aside, I loved all the products. I would have snapped these up these if I’d seen them in a shop. This box included a nice variety of items and lots of unique additions, like the funky contour brush and the holographic trio.  This was an amazing summer box and probably my favorite curation of 2017.  Orglamix never disappoints.

Are you as addicted to “Mermaid” themed products or am I the only one?

Orglamix Glam Box: May 2017 Tea Party + 25% Off

Today it’s time to work through one of  the many awesome boxes I have piled up, since I’m going through the literal boxes piled up all over my house.  Moving sucks, but you never really remember how bad it is until you actually have to do it again.  Plus this is all going on while I try to get folks to review my new book, “The Ice Maiden’s Tale”.  I’m not sure what to start bribing people with since I have no money.  I have some beauty products though.  Do you think offering moisturizer and hair oil would work?

Anyway, it’s time to forget my responsibilities for a moment and have some fun with one of my favorite boxes.
The May Orglamix Glam Box had a “Tea Party” theme.  “It seems like a new beauty craze crops up practically every day, but there’s a reason some have staying power.  And in the case of tea, as a beauty staple, that staying power has lasted a very very long time.  Tea is the world’s most ancient remedy.  It was discovered thousands of years ago in China, where people cultivated its use as a medicine, as a ritual, as an art form.  Turns out the world’s most popular beverage has plenty of beauty perks.  Tea makes for a great ingredient because it has wonderful benefits for the skin.  It’s packed with powerful antioxidants, as well as anti-inflammatory and anti-aging benefits, plus it’s effective and gentle, making it perfect for all skin types.”

Multi Tea Organic Facial Cleanser
(Estimated Retail: $9.00)
Description: ”Organic green tea, white tea and rooibos tea, organic neem, DMAE, vitamins, and organic aloe vera make up this mild cleanser that won’t strip your skin of its natural oils or alter is pH….”
Verdict: Like!
This cleanser includes natural oils so it’s right up my alley.  I’m interested to see how adding tea to the mix effects the cleanser.

Rooibos Organic Eye Cream
(Estimated Retail: $18.00)
Description: “Rooibos tea is a red tea made from a South African red bush and it’s known to have even more antioxidant benefits than green tea.  Enhanced with hyaluronic acid, clanedula, rooibos, pomegranate extracts and evening primrose, this eye cream diminishes the appearance of puffs, under eye circles…”
Verdict: Love!
I love eye creams because even when I get really lazy about my skin care routine, I can usually stick to at least using an eye cream.  If you do nothing besides wear sun screen and apply a good eye cream regularly, you’ll really make a huge difference in how your skin ages.  I’m excited to try this out and love the generous size.

Sweet Tea Liplux Lip Tint
(Estimated Retail: $12.00)
Description: “A beautiful delicate pink, this lip tint adds lot so hydration and shine to your lips.  Made with coconut, canola, olive and grapeseed oils, this rose gold lip tint is delicately flavored with sweet tea…”
Verdict: Not quite right for me.
First, let me just say this feels amazing going on and it gives a really saturated color.  The only problem is for me it’s orange on my skin tone, not pink.  But this would look amazing on somebody with tan or olive skin. I can really see it giving that bronze JLo type glow.

Tea for Two Natural Eyeshadow
(Estimated Retail: $12.50)
Description: ”…Our golden metal crush eye shadow is electric, made from pigment-saturated powders that apply flawlessly dry or wet.”
Verdict: Hit!
This shade has a really pretty shimmer that is lovely during summer.  A little goes a long way.

Lemongrass Bath Bomb
(Estimated Retail: $5.00)
Description: ”…Take a dip with this zippy green and yellow fizzer to feel instantly energized!  Next time you’re feeling sluggish, simply pop one into your bath for a sunny dose of invigorating lemon-grass, bergamot essential oils and mesmerizing vibrant green waters.  Organic shea butter leaves you with soft, hydrated skin, while good ol’ fashioned baking soda cleanses and keeps you feeling fresh..”
Verdict: Like
There will come a day where I will have time to actually sit in a bathtub and enjoy my giant stockpile of bath products.  I’m sure I’ll enjoy this bathbomb then.

I receive this for free in order to review it, but the regular cost is $29 and the estimated retail value came out to $56.50.  That’s a bit lower than past Orglamix boxes, but still a good value.  This had a nice summery feel and I think all the products would appeal to most subscribers.  The only reason it’s not a “love” for me is because the lip tint wasn’t a match for my complexion.  The product itself though feels so nice and goes on so smoothly that I’d love to try another in a different shade.

Orglamix Glam Box: April 2017 Best In Beauty + 25% Off

Another day, another late sub box review.  Promoting my new book, “The Ice Maiden’s Tale” has proven both stressful and time-consuming.  Apparently you can’t just tell people it’s an awesome book and beg them to leave you an Amazon review.  Do you think bribing people with cookies would work?  I’d bake them myself and everything.

Anyways, I am shamefully behind with so many great box reviews and posts, so I’m going to just try to power through my backlog and see where we end up.
Today I have my April Orglamix Glam Box that had “Best in Beauty” theme.  “Spring is in full bloom, and as the sun comes out and jackets come off, the desire to lift a few layers (and minutes) from our makeup routine is intensifying.  To help, this month we’ve turned to our bestselling favorites for a makeup bag refresh.  These 5-star products are an easy way to sharpen up your look but still keep it low key.”
If you’d like to try out a box of vegan, cruelty free natural beauty products for yourself use the coupon code VEGAN to save 25%.
My packaging even came with this adorable tiny little stars.

Bubble Blender Silicone Makeup Applicator
(Estimated Retail: $15.00)
Description: ”…It’s time to throw out all of your makeup sponges and never waste expensive makeup again. The Bubble Blender’s innovative and revolutionary design allows you to blend all your liquid or cream based makeup without any waste.  THE secret lies in its nonporpous design which does not absorb makeup like a sponge but still maintains flawless application.”
Verdict: Love!
I’ve seen these style of applicators on beauty blogs and been dying to try one out. I can’t wait to see how it works with my go to CC cream from It Cosmetics.  I’d love to see if this can replace my makeup sponges since I find cleaning the sponges tedious and since this product is non-porous it seems like it’s super easy to keep hygienic.

llume Cream Luminizer
(Estimated Retail: $18.00)
Description: “Our must have, bestselling cream highlighter adds a youthful glow with a transparent, dewy finish.  Use Luminizer on cheek bones, brow bones and eyelids to create a sensuous, luminous glow.  IT’s not shiny, greasy or glittery.  Use it anywhere you want gorgeous, glowing skin.  Simply blend over cheek bones, down the bridge of the nose and at the bow of the lips.”
Verdict: Like!
I like the subtle sheen of this Luminizer and that it’s not glittery.  It’s definitely a nice product for the more natural makeup looks I like to go for in Spring and Summer.

Mud Treatment Hydrating
(Estimated Retail: $15.00)
Description: “A 5-minute professional-quality mud mask treatment to deliver instant, extreme hydrating. Our Hydrating Mud Treatment uses the newest, most advanced and extreme hydration active technologies.  It moisturizes, restores, replenishes, and calms in just five minutes.”
Verdict: Hit!
I found that working in the garden and around the house has left my skin dry.  Once I actually have at least one bathroom in decent shape, I’m going to give myself a nice facial and try out this mud treatment.

V.I.Pretty lip + cheek gelle

(Estimated Retail: $18.00)
Description: ”Wear the first rosy glow of Spring with this multi-tasking lip & cheek stain.”
Verdict: Hit!
I adore cream blushes and this shade is lovely and subtle.

5 Star Fab natural eyeshadow
(Estimated Retail: $12.50)
Description: ”One part unicorn, one part mermaid and three parts magic combine for a wash of rainbow color and all around total gorgeousness.  So without further ado, here is the makeup look everyone will be copying; watercolor eyes…Experiment with extra-colorful pastel, opalescent lids.
Verdict: LOVE!
You had me at mermaid.  Watercolor eyes are one of my favorite looks and I tend to hoard eye products in soft oceany pastels.  I love the shimmer to this.  Mineral eyeshadows go on so beautifully that I’ve kind of become addicted to them.  At first I was intimidated with trying to use them, but they go on smoothly and blend easily.  Definitely try them out if you haven’t.

Orglamix Glam Box: March 2017 Tropical Getaway + 25% Off

Things have been hella busy over here.  My new book, “The Ice Maiden’s Tale” is being released on Tuesday, May 30th!  I swear to you all I still don’t really believe it.  I’m spending the long weekend trying to get caught up on all my writing and on the never-ending renovation of my time warp house, but today I’ve carved out some time to get back to my boxes.

To kick off the Memorial Day weekend I’ve got the March Orglamix Glam Box with its “Tropical Getaway” theme.  “Spring break is around the corner and it’s time to get beach-ready for your getaway!  Whether you’re planning a spring fling with a beau, a tropical adventure with the girls, or a virtual vacation get your glow on with these head-to-toe tropical beauty favorites.”

Sounds perfect as we head into summer.  If you’d like to try out a box of vegan, cruelty free natural beauty products for yourself use the coupon code VEGAN to save 25%.

Pineapple + Papaya Brighten Instant Glow Mask
(Estimated Retail: $38.00)
Description: ”A brightening mask featuring pineapple and papaya enzymes to naturally illuminate, smooth, and exfoliate skin for an instant glow. Illuminate and energize skin with natural enzymes.  This exfoliating mask features tropical enzymes, aloe, and glycerin to brighten and exfoliate naturally, giving skin a fresh new glow.  Continual use provides increased radiance, softness, and a brightened appearance.”
Verdict: Hit!
I like that this is an exfoliating mask that you just need to massage into your face.  No hard work here, just apply it at night or wear under your moisturizer in the day.  The fruit ingredients also definitely fit the tropical theme.

Monoi de Tahiti oil

(Estimated Retail: $28.00)
Description: “A beauty oil for an aromatic, sun-kissed sheen.  Monoi de Tahiti oil conjures the luxury and tradition of French Polynesia.  The bud of the tiare flower is soaked in the finest coconut oil and then blended for a translucent chocolate shimmer.  The lightly tinted formula has tiny gold flecks that make skin look smooth and luminous.  Try it on arms, legs, and shoulders—and rub ab it on dry strands to keep them hydrated and shiny.”
Verdict: Gift
The moment I got this I thought of a friend who would love it.  I’m adding it to her birthday gift.

Tiare Mahoi Bath bomb

(Estimated Retail: $5.00)
Description: “…This bath bomb feature an intoxicating blend of Tiare.  This bath bomb creates a beautiful bath art leaving the bath water a beautiful pink.” “
Verdict: Like!
I can’t wait to finish my renovations and be able to use my bathtub.  I can be all fancy pants while I bathe in pink water filled with Tahitian flowers.  It can help distract me from the fact that my bathtub is 1970s yellow.

Tropical Getaway – Solid Perfume

(Estimated Retail: $9.00)
Description: ”Devastatingly feminine, dangerously flirtatious, – this blend of white flowers hsolud be a controlled substance. FI you love gardenia, you need to own this – it is so incredibly fresh and true that it smells like you just pined a newly cut gardenia in your hair.  Lush, but clean.  A swipe of this perfume will have people leaning in when they speak to you!”
Verdict: Love!
Orlgamix solid perfumes are pretty much the only scents I get in subscription boxes that I can wear.  They are always fresh and natural smelling and for once I can have a variety of perfumes at my disposal.  I can’t stress enough how awesome solid perfumes are.  Not only are they ace for travel, but I keep one in my commuter bag to use for emergencies. Get stuck next to someone on the bus who smells like sardines and wet dog, put a little solid perfume on your upper lip.  It can be a lifesaver.

Coconut Colada – Natural Eyeshadow

(Estimated Retail: $12.50)
Description: ”A soft shimmer eye shadow that softly illuminates lids.  This eyeshadow radiates an unusual alchemy combining the classic, neutral beige notes with war golden accords of fiery sunrise – scattering of gold, vermillion and peach to create a voluptuously gorgeous color.  This shimmering composition will become your go to favorite to astonish and captivate for all-over lid color, highlighting smudging and more.  This intoxicating shade is a sexy blend, inspired by lingering hours spend by the seaside.”
Verdict: Love
This is such a great neutral everyday shade that gives a sun-kissed, candlelight type glow.  Really easy for anyone to wear and perfect for summer outings when you want just a touch of color.

To start, the value on this box is amazing.  I receive this for free in order to review it, but the regular cost is $29 and the estimated retail comes out to $92.50.  Taking these type of items out of a sub box context and putting them into a boutique that would feature natural and cruelty free beauty products, you’d spend so much more than $29 to get half of what you do in this one box.

As for the items included, I thought they fit the tropical theme perfectly.  They had a nice variety of skincare, scents and makeup and I think they’d appeal to a wide variety of subscribers.  More than any sub I receive, I think Orglamix does a great job of nailing their themes and making them fit the season.

Orglamix Glam Box: February 2017 Get Your Glow On + 25% Off

It’s time to get back to some box reviews and today I have one of my favorites: the Orglamix Glam Box. February’s theme was “Get Your Glow On”. If you’d like to try out a box of vegan, cruelty free natural beauty products for yourself use the coupon code VEGAN to save 25%.

We’ve got a really pretty box and super adorable Valentine’s themed packaging including itty bitty little paper hearts.  (As an aside, doesn’t “Paper Hearts” sound like it should be a movie on the Hallmark Channel?)

Anyways, let’s get to the goods:

Pink Himalayan Rose Solar Salt Mineral Soak
(Estimated Retail: $14.00)
Description: ”This softly scented soak relaxes muscles, eases the mind and softens skin to perfection. Featuring a blend of high-vibration sea salts including large-grain solar, Pink Himalayan and Epsom salts this relaxing bath soak is handmade.  Soaked in essential oils and organic rose petals, this soak elevates your bathing experience.”
Verdict: Like
Bath Salts! (And not the kind that turn you into a flesh eating zombie.) I love that this soak came with a little sachet to use so that you won’t have to deal with cleaning a ton of miniscule rose petals from your tub.  If the first phase of working on my kitchen cabinets is any indication, I will definitely need a relaxing soak for my muscles.  It’s amazing how sore you can be from just sanding, taping and painting.

Pink Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector

(Estimated Retail: $18.00)
Description: “…Our newest, creamy, highlighter powder to light up your best features with a high-shine finish.  Like a spotlight for your skin, this highlighter lights up your favorite features with high-impact, ultra-reflective shine….The multi-toned pigment pearls adjust to your skin’s natural undertones.  Unlike traditional loose powders, this unique formula blends pigments with liquids, to create an unparalleled, creamy feel that applies seamlessly for silky finish that never cakes.  The result: a high-shine, elegant finish that doesn’t look glittery.”
Verdict: On the Fence
I love the idea of this powder and the application was easy and felt lovely on my skin.  For me though, it did seem a touch glittery.  But that’s just my first impression on a swatch.  I’ll have to really experiment with it to see if I can make it work for me.

Buffing – Brush

(Estimated Retail: $15.00)
Description: “A new technology in brushes, thousands of soft cruelty free bristles so tightly packed together as a buffer this brush give san air brushed look to the skin.  Densely-packed bristles cut at an even length, which enables you to buff the product into your skin.  Buffing brushes can work powders, liquids, creams and gels into the skin for an airbrushed effect.  They do all the hard work for you—just gently swirl the brush over your face and watch your makeup blend beautifully.  For extra coverage, try tapping the burhs on your skin to add more product—you may not even need concealer!” “
Verdict: LOVE!
I’ve been lusting after all the new oval buffing brushes that have come out on the market.  Unfortunately, so many of them have crazy high price-tags, so I’m super excited to finally try one out.  This is one of my favorite items in all the boxes I’ve gotten so far this year.

Pink Champagne – Natural Eyeshadow

(Estimated Retail: $12.00)
Description: ”…Pink Champagne is an incredibly romantic shade.  It brightens eyes and looks great on everyone.  It’s anything but boring, and can create both smoky and minimalist looks…”
Verdict: Hit!
This shade is very similar to my skin tone, but it gives more of candlelit look.  I think this will work great as a base for some winged liner or as part of a natural beauty look.

Glisten Lip + Cheek Gelee
(Estimated Retail: $18.00)
Description: ”A moisturizing lip and cheek tint that minimizes fine lines while delivering the perfect pop of color…”
Verdict: Love!
I’ve been wearing this as a blush nearly every day since I got it.  It’s the perfect natural shade for my skin.  It gives a hint of color that just makes my skin look healthy rather than made up. Another winner.

This was a romantic and fun box that I adored.  Getting a makeup oriented box after January’s skincare heavy one, showed a nice attention to the curation.    The items were a perfect fit for the romance of February and the brush was a wonderful surprise.  I receive this box for free in order to review it, but the regular cost is $29.  The estimated value comes out to $77, which doesn’t surprise me since natural beauty products can be quite pricey.  I think $29 for all the items you get is quite a bargain.

I’m gearing up to take some pics of my March Box so be sure to come back for more Orglamix reviews!

Have you tried any of the new oval buffing brushes on the market?
If so, which ones and what did you think?

oil
Overnight Detox Face Oil
(Estimated Retail: $38.00)
Description: ”This lightweight, dry oil is a 100 percent plant-based formula that helps support natural cell renewal and toxin elimination.  Free-radicals and dead cells are eliminated during the nighttime when cells are most efficient at healing.  Skin is left smooth, hydrated and youthful looking.”
Verdict: Like
I like that you can use this on its own, or layered under your regular night cream.  I haven’t tried an oil specifically for overnight so I’m excited to test this out.

cleanser
Charcoal Aloe Face Cleanser

(Estimated Retail: $18.00)
Description: “All natural treatment cleanser formulated with organic ingredients for daily use or as a needed treatment use.  Activated bamboo charcoal draws out skin pollutants, helps to heal and prevent breakouts.  Aloe gently hydrates to prevent over drying.  Blended with antibacterial essential oils to help eliminate bacteria on the skin surface and deep within pores, soothes skin and reduce inflammation. ”
Verdict: Love!
I don’t think I’ve tried a charcoal cleanser, but I have tried charcoal masks and they’ve been great on my skin.  Between stress, holidays and all the weird extreme temperatures, my skin is kind of a mess right now.  This seems like the perfect thing to help even it out.

scrub
Black Magic Detox Sugar Scrub
(Estimated Retail: $14.00)
Description: “Dextox Scrub is activated charcoal and pure organic can sugar both of which are believed to detox the skin, tighten pores and smooth skin texture.  Add to that an exquisitely uplifting fragrance with a healthy helping of essential oils.  Top notes of peppermint, spearmint and menthol are believed to reduce fatigue and increase meal alertness.  Essential oils of lavender, juniper berry and clay sage, calm and uplift the spirit.  A woody drydown of amber, sandalwood, jasmine clove and pine needle makes this scrub a must have for the ultimate pampering experience. “
Verdict: Like!
I’ve got a nice stock pile of scrubs, but I like the mix of charcoal and essential oils in this one.  I’m spending a lot of time working on my house and this should give my skin and senses a little boost.

sponge
Konjac Sponge Charcoal

(Estimated Retail: $10.00)
Description: ”IF you’re looking for a gentle way to exfoliate, a konjac sponge laced with charcoal is for you.  Made from the root of the konnyaku plant the natural sponge is gentle enough to use daily—just apply a pump of your cleanser to the sponge and massage it over your face for soft skin without irritation.  These don’t contain active charcoal, though, so reach for a purifying mask if you want a deeper cleanse.”
Verdict: Like!
Julep introduced me to Konjac sponges and they do a nice job of cleansing without irritating your skin.  I’m happy to add this to my skincare stash.

tea
Skin Detox Tea
(Estimated Retail: $???)
Description: ”…Our skin reflects our diet and lifestyle choices: it’s the mirror to internal health.  It’s just as essential to cleanse from the inside; reducing internal impurities can help to promote clearer glowing skin.  Yogi Skin DeTox was purposefully formulated to support a healthy skin care regimen.  Fragrant rose petal and hibiscus, used in Ayurveda to cool and soothe the skin, entice the senses with a fresh floral scent.  Organic green tea that supplies antioxidants to promote a sense of rejuvenation while burdock and yellow dock-traditionally used to support the liver-combine with red clover to promote cleansing….
Verdict: Like
This didn’t include an estimated cost so I’m considering it an extra.  What you eat gets reflected not just in your skin, but in your overall well-being. A detox tea seems a perfect fit for this box.

This was another practical box from Orglamix that suited the theme and time of year.  I missed receiving a makeup item, but the curation made sense with its focus on health, detoxification and charcoal. This wasn’t the most glamorous glam box I’ve ever received, but I’ll use all the items in it and I think my skin will look better because of it.  I receive this box for free in order to review it, but the estimated value came out to a $80, which I think is an excellent value for a box priced at $29.

I’m gearing up to take some pics of my February Box so be sure to come back for more Orglamix reviews!

Orglamix Glam Box: December 2016 Winter Wonderland + 25% Off

I know, I know it’s the last day of January and I’m finally getting to my December boxes.  But now I can finally tell you why:  I closed on my very first home! I’m planning a super special post about it including the launch of some new features.  But for now, it’s time to catch up on all the great boxes I’ve been stockpiling.

Today we’ve got the always fun Orglamix Glam Box with their December 2016 “Winter Wonderland” box.  If you’d like to try out a box of vegan, cruelty free natural beauty products for yourself use the coupon code VEGAN to save 25%.
open-box
The December Box description: “Dry and chapped skin during the colder months is very common, but it only takes a few minutes each day to relieve those harsh effects.  Solve your winter skin dilemmas with these current favorites infused with peppermint essential oils for a little added stress relief this time of the year.”

We start with Free Candy!

oil
Essential Oil Rollerball – Chill Pill

(Estimated Retail: $18.00)
Description: ”When the world closes in on you and your head feels a size too small, apply a few dabs of Chill Pill on the back of your neck, temples and earlobes. You’ll feel a tingling sensation as pressure tension & tightness being to feel as if they melt away.  Blended from 100% pure and natural, steam-distilled sweet basil, rosemary, laurel ravensara, peppermint, ginger, eucalyptus, and lemon essential oils to reduce the discomforts associated with tension and stress.”
Verdict: I can use all the help I can get
It’s like Orglamix knew that my life for the past few months has been a giant ball of stress.  This has a peppermint scent that feels like it helps clear out congestion. I’m not sure how effective it really is, but it’s probably much better than stress-eating a family size bag of Twizzlers.

cuticle-foot-balm
Hand, Cuticle & Foot Balm – Avocado Wintergreen

(Estimated Retail: $20.00)
Description: “This rich and nourishing Hand, Cuticle & Foot Balm softens and heals rough skin.  It heals with vitamin E, deeply moisturizes with organic shea nut butter and cocoa butter, and repairs and improves texture with organic avocado oil.  It is highly effective for dry, cracked skin and soothes the sense with the stimulating and refreshing scent of wintergreen essential oil.”
Verdict: Like
These types of balms are perfect for winter when your hands really get dry and chapped.  I’m not crazy about the mint scent, but it’s not offensive either and matches up with the Winter theme.

skin-dew
Skin Dew Hydrating Essence – Mist & Setting Spray
(Estimated Retail: $18.00)
Description: “This invigorating essence face mist helps replenish radiance and moisture while protecting and soothing the skin.  It provides an overall sense of wellbeing and freshens makeup on contact….A blend of essential oils including rosemary, tangerine and peppermint, provide a fresh and energizing aroma.  The natural polymers help to set makeup by stopping oil migration, which results in a more radiant appearance throughout the day. “
Verdict: Like!
I’m really intrigued by the idea of a hydrating essence that is also a makeup setting spray.  I feel like a lot of makeup setting sprays aren’t necessarily good for your skin, so this will be really nice to try out.

snowstorm-label snowstorm snow-swatch
Snow Storm – Almost Matte Eyeshadow

(Estimated Retail: $12.00)
Description: ”…This time of year, frosted eyeshadow can make your skin too washed-out.  Instead, light up the room with this shade of winter white.  It can be worn alone or layered with other shades for a perfectly contoured, uncomplicated eye.”
Verdict: Love!
This is one of Orglamix’s new matte eyeshadows and is my favorite item in the box.  I think it looks great on my super pale skin.  Just a little of this with a cat eye liner gives a great look.  It’s also works well mixed with other shadows.  An awesome pick.

frostbite-label gloss gloss-swatch
Frost Bite – Tinted Lip Whip
(Estimated Retail: $12.00)
Description: ”Tinted Lip Whip gives a subtle, slightly pink hue to your lips.  It moisturizes for hours without feeling heavy, oily, or sticky.  The all-natural, multitasking formula can be used alone as a lip treatment or over a lipstick or lip sheen for a glossy boost.”
Verdict: Like!
When I first saw the pink I was a little worried, but as you can see from the swatch it comes off with just a bit of shimmer.  On its own the color isn’t very noticeable, but it does feel nice on the lips.  The sheen has a bit of blue to it, which looks lovely layered over other lipsticks.

This box felt a bit more practical than some of the previous Orglamix offerings.  The winter vibe came through and it also felt a bit like a self-care theme.  I receive this box for free in order to review it, but the estimated value came out to a whopping $80 which is quite nice for a box that only costs $29.
My January box is sitting on my desk at home, just waiting to be opened so be sure to come back for some more Orglamix reviews!

Orglamix Glam Box: November 2016 Autumn Magic + 25% Off

Since tomorrow will officially begin the start of Winter, I thought today would be a perfect time to review the November “Autumn Magic” Orglamix Glam Box.  If you’d like to try out a box for yourself use the coupon code VEGAN to save 25%.
open-box
The November Box description: “Fall conjures up images of jumping in leaves, drinking hot tea and cozy knit sweaters.  Spend some time pampering yourself with every deliciously scented product that’s tucked inside this month’s box.  Spoil yourself, just in time for the holidays.”

spiced-pear
Créme Fraiche – Spiced Pear
(Estimated Retail: $6.00)
Description: ”The aroma of juicy pears, warm brown sugar, vanilla, nutmeg & a touch of cinnamon spice. Our limited edition Créme Fraiche whipped soap creates a rich, luxurious lather as it naturally exfoliates with sugar crystals.  Nourishing sweet almond oil protects and pampers for skin that feels soft, smooth and ultra-touchable.  Enjoy the fluffy texture – just a dab goes a long way….it’s so versatile it can be used as a shaving cream, bubble bath, or even a shampoo on certain hair types.”
Verdict:Love!
I don’t think I’ve ever used a soap with this texture.  It seems perfect for a shaving cream and the smell is delicious. I’d love to try this out in even more scents.

body-lotion
Body Brulee – Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin

(Estimated Retail: $6.00)
Description: “A fall favorite blend of heirloom pumpkin, autumn cinnamon  & ginger snap.  Infused with coconut oil and grapeseed, our enhanced lotion contains more of what skin loves.  Fortified with nutrient rich ingredients like protective Vitamin E and conditioning Vitamin B5, our fast-absorbing, non-greasy formula delivers 216 hours of continuous moisture.”
Verdict: Is it Fall if there isn’t any pumpkin spice?
This box just had to have a pumpkin item and a body lotion seems a nice choice.  Between the cold weather and the indoor heating, my skin is getting pretty cracked and painful. Hopefully this will help.

lip-plumper plumper-swatch
Natural Lip Plumper
(Estimated Retail: $12.00)
Description: “Infused with 100 percent natural ingredients, this lip gloss nourishes, conditions, soothes and plumps lips.  A proprietary complex visibly plumps lips and increases circulation for a voluptuous, juicy look, while soothing jojoba hydrates and enhances barrier recovery.“
Verdict: Like!
This is an inspired choice, since cinnamon tends to be an ingredient in a lot of lip plumpers.  Despite the tinted color, you can see from the swatch that this goes on as a clear gloss.  I haven’t had a chance to try it yet to discover if it really does plump up my lips but it didn’t feel drying or too tingly when I swatched it.

eyeshadows eyeshadow-swatches
Salted Caramel – Natural Mineral Eyeshadow

(Estimated Retail: $12.00)
Description: ”…this soothing shade is infused with rich, buttery neutral notes and just a hint of shimmer.  It’s almost matte, but better.”
Verdict: Like
The Salted Caramel shade seems a bit warm for me, but I think I may be able to use the golden hue for some holiday looks. I’m thinking of pairing with a simple cat eye using an espresso brown liner and a gold shimmery lip gloss.
Pumpkin Cider – Natural Mineral Eyeshadow
(Estimated Retail: $12.00)
Description: ”A creamy blendable shade with intensity that lasts day to night.”
Verdict: Not for me
This is a gorgeous shade, with amazing color payoff, but orange is not for me.  I’m going to gift this to a friend with a skin tone this should look amazing on.
Spiced Mocha – Natural Mineral Eyeshadow
(Estimated Retail: $12.00)
Description: ”…This chestnut hue is a flattering choice for everyday.”
Verdict:
Hit!
This is a lovely neutral that will work on nearly every skin tone.

Orglamix once again delivered a fun box centered around a seasonal theme.  My favorite item was the unique soap, but with the exception of the pumpkin eyeshadow, I’ll use all theitems in this box.  I received this box for free, but the regular month-to-month cost is $29.00.  The estimated retail value (based on the included card) came out to $60.00.  That’s a little low for their typical value, but still a great deal.  Orglamix always sends me products I don’t get in other boxes.  If you like unique beauty, consider trying them out.

Orglamix Glam Box: October 2016 Brewhaha + 25% Off

To fight off the stress and fatigue from all the awesome projects that have keeping me away from this blog more than I like, (I promise I’ll fill you in on all the details soon) I thought I’d review one of my favorite subs: Orglamix Glam Box.  It’s always full of products that make me smile, plus they are vegan, cruelty free and natural.  If you’d like to try out a box for yourself use the coupon code VEGAN to save 25%.

The October box had a theme of “Brewhaha”:
“To the uninitiated, it’s pumpkin-spice season.  For fans of beauty’s darker side (or anyone who has ever #WCW’d Nancy from The Craft), the crisp air and changing leave means it’s officially the season of the witch.  Come out of the broom closet for our favorite beauty tricks and treats.”

Bring on the witchcraft!

body-scrub
Blood Orange Mint walnut AHA body polish
(Estimated Retail: $15.00)
Description: ”It’s alluring scent combines freshly squeezed blood orange + wild mint.  AHA and finely ground walnut shells are a recipe for exfoliating and revealing younger looking skin.  Skin is left delicately fragranced, hydrated, super soft, smooth and conditioned.”
Verdict:  For the vampire with Scurvy
The mint on this definitely comes through and it has very invigorating scent.  My skin gets so dry in the winter that body polish is a must (followed by a good moisturizer).

face-mask
Mugwort Face Mask

(Estimated Retail: $12.00)
Description: “Mugwort, the VIP herb in every witch’s pantry, is used for everything from protective smudging to aiding lucid dreams and astral projection. It’s also great for boosting circulation and can help clear up acne, which precisely why it’s a main ingredient in this ten-minute mask.”
Verdict: an “A” from Snape
This mask makes me think of all the unique Kbeauty masks that are all the rage.  I can’t remember trying a mask of this kind before (which is saying a lot considering my sub box obsession). I’m psyched to give this a try.

room-spray
New Moon Room Spray
(Estimated Retail: $16.00)
Description: “Astrology buffs know that a new moon in the sky wipes the slate clean, signifying the best time to set intentions. Spraying your home with this blend of white sage and organic essential oils of lemon and lime will clear the air and, some believe, help manifest desires. (Febreze can’t help you there.) “
Verdict: Better Than a Full Moon
As you know I’m really sensitive to scents, so there are very few air fresheners or room sprays I can use.  Orglamix’s products never bother my allergies so I love finally getting a chance to try different scents.  This one is earthy and fresh.

glitter-glossglittter-gloss-swatch
SPELLBOUND glitter gloss

(Estimated Retail: $10.00)
Description: Enchant onlookers with this versatile glitter makeup. The lightweight , fine particles of bright light add glamour to any type of makeup— on the face or body. A little bit goes a long way. Just pat on the skin for a long-lasting effect. Apply over eyeshadow or lipstick for more sparkle.”
Verdict:
Edward Cullen Approved.
Did someone say sparkle?  This is a clear gloss with larger glitter pieces inside.  It goes on without being sticky and while I’ve had lots of glittery lip products, I have never had one with this type of glitter.  This is so much fun and I could see it working not just for Halloween, but for New Year’s or any time you want a touch of glam to your makeup.

eyeshadow-label eyeshadow-open eyeshadow-swatch
SMOKIN’ CAULDRON mineral eyeshadow

(Estimated Retail: $12.00)
Description: “It doesn’t come any smokier (or sexier). This 100% natural golden-gray eye shadow has flecks of gold that mirror the sparkling full moon in the night sky. Use it as a liner or foil for magic.”
Verdict: Perfect For Good & Bad Witches
This eyeshadow is so lovely.  It’s hard to see in the photo but the grey has an iridescence to it, that gives it depth.  You can go badass with this and do a smoky eye, or use it to just for lining or for the outside edge for a softer look.

rollerball
PERFUME POTION –– Poison Apple

(Estimated Retail: $12.00)
Description: “A perfectly wicked witches brew: perfume! Oooo –some of the ingredients listed below are a bit sinister, some quite repulsive, some unsightly and all are eerie, mysterious and weirdly disturbing– perfect scents to wear day or night this autumn. Get into the Halloween spirit with Orglamix.”
Verdict: The Best Revenge
Orglamix offered an array of different Halloween themed scents.  I received the “Poison apple” scent – which if you know my love of fairy tales was apropos.  I love fruity scents so this was right up my alley.  There are so many awesome fun, scents that are still available for sale.  Now’s your chance to smell like a vampire slayer or the zombie apocalypse–except maybe fresher, and you know, less dead.  Definitely check out Orglamix’s cool options.

As usual, Orglamix delivered a seasonally appropriate box full of fun and unique offerings.  I get a lot of beauty products from boxes and yet, Orglamix manages to send me things I’ve never tried, or don’t own. The mineral eyeshadow is going to be perfect for the holidays and I’m excited to use the Mugwort mask during my next home spa day.    I received this box for free but the regular month-to-month price is $29.00.  The estimated retail value (based on the included card) came out to $77.00.  Even excluding the high retail value, the quality and variety of products are definitely worth the $29 price tag.  If you want to try out natural beauty products, or you just really like something unexpected and whimsical in your makeup routine, consider an Orglamix subscription.
