Now let’s see what July brought us:
Open Box
Our theme is “Hello, Sunshine”:

Splash Mask
Splash Mask – energy yellow citrus
(Estimated Retail: $14.00)
Description: ”The perfect wake-me-up for tired skin An innovative way to mask, this citrus-infused liquid treatment is applied in the shower to reveal smooth, glowing skin.”
Verdict:  Intrigued!
According to the card you spray this on your face in the shower and it “reveals smoother skin and leaves the face feeling refreshed and glowing.  It’s formulated with a lactic acid blend and enriched with botanical extracts.”  I love citrus and I’ve never tried a mask quite like this one, which makes it all the more fun to receive.

Rise & Shine
Rice + Shine Essential Oil Rollerball

(Estimated Retail: $18.00)
Description: “Drained? Try this vigorous, aromatic shower featuring invigorating essential oils. A great way to wake up for the day; this refreshing blend is especially effective in the midst of a strenuous work week, to combat yesterday’s fatigue and prepare for today’s challenges. Rise + Shine helps awaken your body and stimulate your mind so you can get things done. Apply this blend early and often throughout the day to stimulate energy, movement and vitality. Try it instead of (or with) your 3:00 PM java fix for an afternoon lift!”
Verdict:  Love!
These essential oil rollerballs are amazing for me because unlike perfumes they don’t give me headaches.  I adore citrus so I think I’ll be using this quite a lot.  I imagine it will be a nice pick me up in the winter went I want to remember what warm sunshine was like.

Sponge
Beauty Blender Spiral twist
(Estimated Retail: $10.00)
Description: “The unique shape of this latex-free spiral sponge provides a comfortable grip while applying and blending foundation, concealer or skincare products.  The contours and ridges of the sponge allow for precise application in hard to reach areas.  Can be used wet for sheer coverage and dry for heavier coverage.“
Verdict: Hit!
I use these types of sponges daily with my CC cream.  I’ve never tried one with this spiral shape and I’d be interested to see if it makes a difference in application.

Powder Lid Powder Label Powder Swatch
Banane mineral retouching powder:

(Estimated Retail: $21.00)
Description: ”A 100% natural, silky, skin-correcting powder that helps to bright and even out skintone and discolorations.  Give skin an airbrushed look while reducing the look of dark spots, fine lines, redness and other imperfections.  It tones down redness in light to medium.  Suitable for all skin types, Retouching Powder is formulated with plant-based ingredient and natural mineral powders, which work to soothe and clam the skin while absorbing excess surface oils to reduce shine.”
Verdict:
Houston we have a problem
I love the idea of this, but unfortunately this color is just not at all for me.  It leans very warm and on my skin it ends up looking like I spilled some paprika on myself.  For folks that have warmer undertones or a darker complexion I think this one might work better.

Shadow LidShadow LabelEyeshadow Swatch
Happy Sparkle Sunshine Vibes mineral eyeshadow

(Estimated Retail: $12.00)
Description: “Sunshine Vibes give the perfect amount of shimmer when applied dry for a trip to the beach or brunch, y et morphs into a smoldering eyeshadow when applied wet—perfect for hot summer nights.”
Verdict:  Hit!
Would I pick this eyeshadow out myself?  Probably not.  But it’s very pretty and a lot of fun. It’s definitely one of those products I have to experiment with but I feel like it would work really well in light doses layered over other shades.  Like most of the products in the monthly subscription this one is Limited Edition, but I linked to a similar mineral eyeshadow on their site for comparison.

Orglamix July 2016
Verdict:
Like, with a small “but”
I thought the sunshine, summer feel of the box was spot on and I liked the unique mask and the addition of a beauty blender tool.  My only problem was with the retouching powder.  It didn’t work for me and it’s had the highest retail value in the box.  I feel like if it’s a complexion based item, it probably shouldn’t make up so much of the box’s value.  That being said,
I received this box for free, but the regular month-to-month price is $29.00.  Even excluding the retouching powder I thought this was still a solid value.  The estimated retail  (based on the included card) came out to $75.00, excluding the retouching powder, it’s still $54.  With the high cost of natural, vegan beauty products this box is still a cost effective way to try out new products, even if one of them is a miss.

Now let’s get to the fun FREE stuff!

Now let’s get to the gorgeous:
Open Box
Our theme is May Flowers:
Label

Necklace & Oil Open Necklace
Aromatherapy Diffuser Necklace
(Estimated Retail: $26.00)
Description: ”Diffuse your favorite essential oils everywhere you go!  This beautiful aromatherapy pendant necklace looks great and gives you the benefit of using essential oils without carrying and reapplying through the day.  To us, simply open the locket and drop 1 drop of your favorite essential oil onto the included felt pad.  You can replace the pad to switch oils, or when it becomes worn.”
Peace + Calm Essential Oil

(Estimated Retail: $6.00)
Description: “Peace &Calm essential oil is a gentle sweet blend of Ylang, Ylang, Geranium Lavender, Rosewood & Wild Orange. With a comforting, floral aroma, this oil creates a relaxing environment that’s especially great for home with children. You’ll love that you can use this oil for your children’s bedtime and then for yourself for a moment of quiet after the house has settled down.”
Verdict:  Love!
You know I get a lot of sub boxes, and I’ve never received anything like this.  Not only can you use essential oils on the little pad, but I tried it with my favorite perfume and it worked just as well. This is a fabulous alternative for folks with sensitive skin that loves scents – you can wear a perfume or an oil and not actually have it touch your skin.  You can also customize the color that peeks through the necklace by adding your own felt pad.  As for the oil included, it didn’t give me a headache (which is a miracle) and I found it quite pleasant. Normally I’m not a fan of Ylang Ylang, but it’s balanced out by the orange.

Glycolic Rose Peel
Glycolic Rose Peel + Mask
(Estimated Retail 2 oz: $62.00; .5 oz size included: $15.00)
Description: “This two-in-one treatment peel and mask diminishes dark spots and provides instant radiance in as little as 3 minutes.  It contains an array of powerful active ingredients – Rosa Damascena and glycolic acid-that work together to brighten, lighten, and create an even, luminous complexion.  This revitalizing peel smells of fresh roses.  With 10% glycolic acid, it is not meant for sensitive skin.“
Verdict:  Like
Peels scare me a bit and I always feel better trying them when it’s a natural product.  This states it’s not for sensitive skin but I have successfully used glycolic peels before so I do plan to try it out. The pamphlet comes with detailed instructions.  The only reason I’m giving this a “like” instead of a “hit” is because folks with more sensitive skin wouldn’t be able to use this and could miss out on one item in their box.

ShadowsSwatches
Pure Mineral Eyeshadows:

Pink Peony

(Estimated Retail: $12.00)
Description: ”Pink Peony is an invitation to grace.  Luminous and subtle, it inspires and evokes a unique facet.  The shade exudes an immediate and incredible freshness, leaving behind a soft trail of shimmer. Wear it alone for everyday or pair with the Cranberry Rose and Creeping Violet for a charmingly rich look.”
Cranberry Rose
(Estimated Retail: $12.00)
Description: ”A light balance of sweet and tart.  Lovely pink rose bus surrounded by sweet shimmer and tart cranberry make this eyeshadow both feminine and romantic.  A wonderful look for afternoon or evening.”
Creeping Violet
(Estimated Retail: $12.00)
Description: ”Creeping violet descends into a hidden labyrinth, where decadent purple gives way to darker pleasures.  Three violet tones dance with exotic shimmer and mulberry wine for creamy depth. Use as eyeshadow or mix with a few drops of water and line eyes for a seductive and enticing look.”
Verdict:
 Love!
These colors all work together and definitely fit the Flowers theme.  I love the Peony shade.  It blends in well with my skintone and works so well layered with tons of different eyeshadow colors.  The other two shades are really lovely and I definitely need to experiment with the Violet.  With my pale skin and blue undertones, purple can sometimes make me look like I was punched in the face, so I need to tread carefully.  The color is amazing though and I think it would be gorgeous on folks with darker skin.

Rose Butter Balm
Fresh Rose Butter Balm

(Estimated Retail: $18.00)
Description: “Fresh Rose Butter Balm delivers intense 24-hour moisture for normal to dry skin.  A dense, concentrated balm made with exotic Rosa damascene absolute. This soothing balm made with coconut and rose oils delivers soothing hydration wherever you need it. With its concentrated formula, a little goes a long way for petal soft skin.  Suggested Usage: apply to lips, cuticles, or even heels.  Dab on lightly over makeup to give cheeks a healthy glow.”
Verdict:  LOVE!
This is my absolute favorite item in the box.  The rose scent is natural and light. The butter balm is super hydrating, but not greasy and heavy like balms can sometimes be.  This is perfect for getting your feet ready for sandal weather.

OVERALL
Orglamix May 2016
Verdict:
Love!
The products in this box all felt perfect for Spring.  The scents were natural, light and appealing, the colors were lovely and there was a great variety including the unusual necklace. This was definitely a well curated box, and I think most subscribers would love it.  I couldn’t find any of these items on the Orglamix site yet so subscribers are also getting access to exclusive shades and products.

I received this box for free, but the regular month-to-month price is $29.00 and I thought that was an incredible value.  The estimated retail value (based on the included card) came out to $101.00.   Natural, vegan beauty products can be pricey so the value you are getting is awesome, and that’s before you factor in the creativity and exclusive items, so $29 seems like a really great deal.
