Popsugar: Fall Limited Edition Box + A new LE Box & the November theme!

It’s been quite a while since I reviewed a Popsugar Limited Edition box.  After a super disappointing $250 Popsugar Neiman Marcus box in 2014 and then a disastrous 2015 CFDA box I decided to only order LE boxes if the spoiler made the box worth it.  Now Popsugar has it’s latest Neiman Marcus box up for sale:
neiman-marcus
Description: “We’ve created the ultimate box just in time for the holidays. Co-curated by Lisa Sugar and Neiman Marcus Fashion Director Ken Downing, they’ve chosen the perfect mix of luxe surprises ready to gift to loved ones or to yourself — you deserve it!”
Boxes will ship by Dec. 5 via FedEx Smartpost.
Price: $250.00
Unless a spoiler pops up that makes this totally worth it for you, I don’t recommend risking it.  This is a lot of money and so far Popsugar’s really pricey boxes (the over $100 range) just haven’t been worth it.

I also have some spoilers for the Popsugar November Must Have Box:

Sounds like this box is about entertaining!  I’m very excited!

Now to the main event.
Fall 2016 Limited Edition Box

scarf-1scarf-2
Buji Baja – With Love from Eurostar – Lavender Rib Scarf

(Suggested Retail: $70)
Description: “Super soft and oh-so-chic, this cozy wrap takes the blanket-scarf trend a step beyond.  Perfect for snuggling up in style as you speed to London or Paris with Eurostar.”
Verdict: Like
Scarves are an obvious choice but this one is super soft, warm and a really pretty shade.  This color will look great paired with grey or charcoal.

keychain keychain-tag
Jack & Lucy Faux Fur Pom Keychain
(Suggested Retail: $41.00)
Description: ”Our editors have been coveting these faux-fur poms for months and can’t get enough!  Use this chic burgundy option as a fun bag accessory, a stylish keychain, or even a playful addition to your belt loop.”
Verdict:
Requires the abuse of “air quotes”
Oh friends, I just can’t..even..with this.  Okay, first of all, who the fuck are Jack and Lucy?  Does this brand exist anywhere besides Popsugar, because there is no website listed and when you google all that shows up are Popsugar products up for resale.  Now if this is a Popsugar made brand, then the “suggested retail” price is complete crap.  (Although you may have already figured that out by the fact that this ridiculous “faux-fur” pom pom from a brand you’ve never heard of, that is “made in china”, costs $41.)  Putting aside the shadiness, this “keychain” is stupid.  It is ginormous.  I don’t know whose life allows them to have a furry keychain bigger than size of a cue ball attached to their keys, but I haven’t met them.  Even when I was a teenager I couldn’t use something like this.  This is a $100 limited edition box.  I expect to see real brands.  High end brands.  Good shit.  Not bargain basement, immature junk that shouldn’t cost more than $5.

journal
Sloane Stationery – Great Thoughts Notepad

(Suggested Retail: $52.00)
Description: ”Jot down your most ingenious ideas on this trendy, rose-gold-embossed note block which is produced using the traditional craft of bookbinding while also allowing you to embrace your own sense of style.”
Verdict: We’ve totally never seen this before.
It’s a notebook!  A $52 dollar notebook!  Sure it’s a nice notebook, but how many of these do we get in sub boxes?  This doesn’t scream out Fall either.  On the bright side, it’s not a giant piece of useless fur from China, so you know it’s got that going for it.

headphones
Caeden Linea No1 Faceted Ceramic & Rose Gold Headphones
(Suggested Retail: $149.99)
Description: “”
Verdict: Love!
This was the spoiler Popsugar released that compelled me to order this box.  Thankfully I love these.  They are gorgeous and super comfortable.  This is the type of item I expect in a Limited Edition box: pretty, practical and high end.

lancer
Lancer Skincare Dani Glowing Skin Perfector
(Suggested Retail: $95.00)
Description: “Simultaneously enhance yoru skin’s natural radiance, blur pore visibility, a nd boost yoru skin’s firmness in one smooth step thanks to this lightweight cream. Its youth-buliding properties create a dewy glow that lasts throughout the day, so you’ll appear wlit from within rom morning until night.”
Verdict: Hit!
This is a pricey brand and the product sounds intriguing to me.  This fits in with what I expect from a Limited Edition box, so we’ll take this product as a win.

colorstickcolorstick-2
stick-colorstick-brush
swatch
Thrive Causemetics Triple Threat Color Stick in “Joy”

(Suggested Retail: $36.00)
Description: “They don’t call it ‘Triple Threat’ for nothing – this handy stick (complete with a built-in brush for blending and sculpting) brings out intense color for your cheeks and lips. Age-defying vitamin C and other natural ingredients serve to brighten and hydrate, so your skin will thank you.”
Verdict: Apparently my skin is “Joy” colored
“Intense Color” – I do not think it means what you think it means.  When I first opened this I was super excited.  Until I swatched it and it justdisappeared into my skin.  I’ve tried using a ton of it, blending it with the brush, my fingers, but it just doesn’t show up – not even in a soft shimmer sort of way.  It honestly doesn’t take much for “color” to show up on my pale skin, so I don’t know who this is supposed to work for.  The brush is really nice though so I may end up using that side on some other cream blush products.

OVERALL:
popsugar-fall-2016-le-box
Verdict:
Disappointing
Because I loved the headphones which are the big ticket item, this box was technically worth it (which puts it ahead of some previous LE Popsugar boxes).  The “estimated retail value” is $443.99, but that includes a $41 dollar keychain, so I’m going to say that those prices are at least a little inflated.  I paid $107 ($100 plus tax) and I’ll use most of the items, but overall the curation on this wasn’t strong.  The Jack & Lucy brand doesn’t belong in a pricey LE box and the notepad and scarf were pretty boring choices, plus I can’t figure out how to get the colorstick to actually put color on my face.  It seems like this special box just isn’t all that special.

Who knows though, maybe I am just super picky or jaded on sub boxes.
What did you think of this box?
Was this what you’d expect in a $100 Fall Limited Edition Box?

Popsugar: August 2016 + A New Box & October Spoilers!

It’s Popsugar time and I’ve got lots of Popsugar news and boxes to catch up on.

First let’s start with some spoilers for October:
October 2016 Popsugar Must Have 2016 Spoilers
Henri Bendel Packable Umbrella
october-spoiler-1

Power Your Happy by Lisa Sugar
october-spoiler-2

Henri Bendel is a very chic, sophisticated brand and the umbrella is a practical option, but I’m not quite feeling the book.  It feels a little..self serving, maybe? Or like subscribers are being used to prop up her writing career?  I know she’s the founder of Popsugar, but I’m hoping this is an “extra” and not a significant part of the box value.

Next Popsugar has a new MYSTERY BOX for only $24.95.
mystery-box
Description: “Now’s your chance to get some of our most-loved surprises from past boxes, featuring over 7 different products with a retail value of $125+. This is a limited-time offer, so don’t wait!  *Products in box may vary.  *Orders will ship by Oct. 17 via FedEx SmartPost.”
If you aren’t a regular subscriber, you might want to try this out.  You probably won’t have most of the items and there are bound to be some goodies in there.

Now let’s get to the box:
August Must Have Box

cargo
Cargo Cosmetics “The Big Easy” Powder Blush

(Suggested Retail: $26)
Description: “Keep you Summer glow going strong into the Fall with this silky-smooth blush.  Because of it’s sheer quality, you don’t need to worry about overly bright cheeks – you can simply build to create your perfect shade!”
Verdict: Meh
I’m a bit ambivalent about the Cargo brand (although I know a lot of bloggers love them).  I find that nearly every Cargo product leans a bit warm for my complexion.  This blush seems fine, but as a makeup item it’s pretty boring.  We’ve had a lot of summer boxes full of cheek products – blushes, bronzers—highlighters.  I really wish we’d gotten something a little more exciting. I didn’t swatch this since I’ve got a ton of other products to go through before I start using it.  Every season I go through my makeup to add new products and get rid of old ones so I’ll probably add this in during my Fall update.  However, I don’t dislike it even if I would have preferred something else.

popcorn
Cookie Pop Popcorn Cookies & Cream

(Suggested Retail: $3.99)
Description: ”Our Food editors and readers are obsessed with anything cookies and cream, so when we tasted this fun, sweet-and-salty snack, we knew this bag wouldn’t last more than a few minutes in our offices and households.”
Verdict:
Delicious, but with an aftertaste of disappointment
These were very yummy and really did taste just like cookies and cream.  The problem?  The bag was literally only a quarter full.  They really need to stop trying to scam us with under filling bags.  Do they think we don’t notice?  I’ve already grown to expect it to be half full, but this one was absurd.

dusti
Unplugged Dusti Screen Cleaner

(Suggested Retail: $5.99)
Description: ”These playful screen cleaners stick to your phone (or phone case) for easy use, and can be washed and reused – peace out, annoying smudges! Now your biggest problem will be picking which one to use first.”
Verdict: Hit!
I commute for hours, via multiple forms of transportation, so my phone is the lifeline that keeps you from hearing news stories about a woman in midtown attacking tourists with her overly heavy purse.  These adorable little cleaners will come in handy for keeping my phone looking good while I use it to forget that I commute through one of the most crowded places on earth.

baggu
Baggu Duck Bag

(Suggested Retail: $26.00)
Description: “The recycled fabric of this versatile tote is durable enough to carry with you everywhere so it’ll quickly become a closet staple. The bag’s adjustable strap length means it works for any outfit or scenario, soy you can show off its matte silver hardware and functional shape no matter where life takes you.”
Verdict: But I wanted the cool one!
Black is basic and important and all, but why couldn’t I get the fun print they showed on the card instead?  It’s like everyone else got Beyoncé and I got Michelle Williams.  I love Baggu bags and I actually own a duck bag with a nautical stripe so I already dig this style. I’m just super disappointed in this boring black.  I feel like the fun of canvas tote bags is being able to have funky or unusual prints.  You may not want to spring for a speckled or bright colored leather purse, but anything goes in canvas.  I don’t know yet if I’ll end up using this and maybe jazzing it up with some embroidery, or if I’ll just give it as a gift instead.

charger
Triple C PowerGloss in Silver
(Suggested Retail: $30.00)
Description: “We’ve all panicked about a low phone battery, but you can kiss that particular anxiety goodbye thanks to this chic portable charger.  Hook the cosmetic-inspired gadget up to your phone or tablet for stress-free charging anywhere life takes you!”
Verdict: Love!
Every Fall I like to give my commuter bag an overhaul and I was in the market to add a portable charger, so this came at the exact perfect time.

notes
Christian Lacroix Paris Paseo Sticky Note Folio

(Suggested Retail: $13.00)
Description: “While this gold-stamped folio is reserved on the outside, the playful ombré sticky-note options inside reveal plenty of personality!  Slip it into your toe to easily jot down reminders, even during your busiest days.”
Verdict: Hit!
During my lunch hour at my day job, I work on my blogging and writing so I like to keep a little “mobile office” in my purse.  This is perfect for writing notes and marking pages.  It’s classy and compact.

OVERALL:
august-2016-popsugar-must-have
Verdict:
Like
If I’d gotten a Baggu bag in a better print/color, this would be a love.  This box had almost a commuter vibe to it that I actually found really helpful since I’m always looking for new products to help me have a smoother and better work week.  This box cost me $42.75 and the estimated retail value came out to $104.95.  That’s actually a bit low for Popsugar, but I do think all the items are excellent quality and quite practical.  This is definitely a step up from July’s confusing and immature curation.

I’ve got lots more Popsugar reviews coming—including their Fall Limited Edition box, so be sure to check back.

What did you think of the black Baggu Tote?
A solid basic or basically boring?

september-spoiler
Jack and Lucy Bi-coastal Hat
This reminds me a lot of the hat Rachel Zoe sent out last year.  I’ll have to compare the two when my September box arrives.

Now let’s get to the
June Must Have Box
open-box-1 open-box-2

sachajuan
Sachajuan Hair in the Sun

(Suggested Retail: $32)
Description: “Keep your hair color vibrant during long days in the sun with this UV-filter formula which owont’ wash out in the pool or ocean.  It’ll protect your strands from damaging UV rays until you shampoo it off.”
Verdict: On the Fence
I think this is an intriguing idea and Sachajuan is a great brand, but for me I don’t feel like the sun damages my hair, I actually think it improves it a bit.  It makes my red a bit brighter and more fiery (my skin, on the other hand, needs 18 layers of SPF 100).  Maybe this is for color-treated hair?  I’m not really sure.

house-of-pom
House of Pom Emoji Cocktail Napkins

(Suggested Retail: $25.00)
Description: ”Our exclusive cocktail napkins, designed with House of Pom, capture trhe Summer experience in a language everyone can speak – emoji!  Serving up icy-cold drinks has never bee so #instagrammable.”
Verdict:
Gift
These aren’t my style but I do like the idea of an embroidered cocktail napkin.  I’m going to gift these to a friend.

scarf
Michael Stars Porcelain Skinny Scarf in White

(Suggested Retail: $30.00)
Description: ”Say “goodbye” to the statement necklace and “hello” to your latest it-accessory: the skinny scarf.  Dress it up or down by wrapping, knotting, or simply draping it atop your favorite Summer ensembles – or stepping up your headband game!”
Verdict: Okay
Am I just fashionably challenged, or is a skinny scarf pointless in the summer?  A bigger scarf you can turn into a shawl if the air conditioning gets too high, but a skinny scarf is just going to make you hotter in the sun and not actually do anything to keep you warmer when the AC is turned up.  I’m just going to reserve this for Fall.

pineappele-pin
Pintrill Pineapple Pin
(Suggested Retail: $12.00)
Description: “What better way to pin your skinny scarf into place that with a cute pin?  Our editors are obsessed with pins and pineapples lately, and this adorable bauble is the perfect way to steal the trend for yourself!.”
Verdict: Umm…Did we go back to middle school?
So for some reason I can’t find my picture of the pin, but this is a tiny tiny pin – like dime sized.  I actually love brooches and think they are highly under-utilized in modern fashion, but this is like a pin you get free for participating in a middle school spelling bee.  I totally don’t get this.

swan-drink-holder
Sunnylife Inflatable Swan Drink Holder
(Suggested Retail: $18.00)
Description: “We can’t all have a butler deliver chilled drinks by the pool, but we can have the next best thing: a swan.  Float up to four beverages with this playful blow-up toy, so you never have to leave the water!  No pool? No problem – the swan is just as much fun and functional on any table.”
Verdict: Not for a duckling
I don’t have a pool nor do I go to the pool or beach regularly. (Who am I kidding I don’t even have a dishwasher or an oven with a door that stays shut.)  And what is the point of putting this on a table with drinks in it?  Why do I want to make it that much harder to drink a beer?  This is clearly suited for someone with a better life than mine.  I guess I’m just a duckling in a world of swans.  In any case, my friend has a pool and the giant inflatable “Mommy” Swan so she can have a matching baby swan to carry booze.

brow-product
European Wax Center – Oh My Brow! Brow Highlighter in Pearl

(Suggested Retail: $19.00)
Description: “This highlighting illuminator is a jack-of-of-all-trades for your beauty bag—you can instantly life your brows by blending it along your brow bone, widen eyes by applying it on your inner corners, add glow to your cheekbones or add a romantic touch to your lips by dabbing above your cupid’s bow..”
Verdict: Like
I didn’t swatch this because I currently have a bunch of brow products in my box and I’d like to finish some before I open up a new one. Illuminators can be a subtle way to add a nice glow to your complexion. I haven’t tried this brand before so it will be fun to experiment with a new product.

chips
Joe Chips Classic Sea Salt Retro Potato Chips

(Suggested retail value: $1.49)
Description: “Just like the truck in the logo, these kettle chips are an all-American classic.  Get the old-school crunch you carve as you enjoy your lunch (or afternoon snack!) In style.”
Verdict:
Like!
I tend to give snacks to my boyfriend so he can feel like he too participates in these boxes.  I asked if these chips tasted “retro”.  He said they didn’t, but were still good.

SPECIAL EXTRA
trove

Trove Gift Card
“Treat yourself to Tove’s on-trend customizable jewelry with a special gift of $20 – there’s something for everyone in this chic collection!”
As usual, I don’t consider gift cards that require you to spend extra money to use as actual box items.

OVERALL:
july-2016-popsugar

Verdict: Not for me
This box cost me $42.75 and the only items that really suited me were the brow highlighter and the $1.49 bag of chips.  This box felt a lot younger and less sophisticated than others I’ve received from Popsugar and the choices seemed oddly specific.  Like how many people really have use for a beverage pool float?  Sure, you can give it to someone else, but most folks actually want the items to use for themselves.  And their suggestion of using it on a table is stupid unless you are a small child or in college.  Supposedly the retail value on this was $137.49, but I’m just not seeing it.  I’m hoping my Fall boxes (including the Limited Edition box) make up for this lackluster summer one.

Be sure to come back for more Popsugar reviews including the Fall Limited Edition box.

Popsugar: June 2016 & Fall Limited Edition Spoiler!

Since Popsugar just released a spoiler for their Fall Limited Edition box, I figured I’d tag it on to a Must Have review.  The Fall Limited Edition is currently on sale and priced at $100.  It ships September9th.

Fall Limited Edition Spoiler
Caeden Linea N°1 On-Ear Headphone Faceted Ceramic & Rose Gold
29bedec8_MH16_August_Teaser_Email_1280x_V1
Popsugar is claiming this as a $149.99 value, but it’s priced at $85.05 on Amazon.  Still, I love them so I decided to take the risk and order the box.   Even at the $85.05 pricetag, it’s still a great value in a $100 box.  Let’s just hope the rest of the items aren’t all perfume and caffeine water.  Be sure to check back if you want the full review and spoilers.

Cover Up
Hat Attack Neutral Diamonds-Printed Sarong
(Suggested Retail: $58)
Description: “Lightweight and easy to pack in your weekend bag, this multifunctional sarong is the perfect beach accessory.  Switch up how you tie it and you’ll never get bored with your cover-up!”
Verdict: Gift
This is pretty, and I like the idea of a coverup, but it’s a little bland for my taste.  For summer I want vibrant, cheerful colors, so I’ll be gifting this to someone I think will enjoy it.

Bottle Opener
Sisters of Los Angeles “Cheers” Gold Bottle Opener

(Suggested Retail: $12.00)
Description: ”This golden bar accessory is the ideal companion for your favorite brew, perfect for displaying on a bar cart or cracking open a cold drink at a backyard bash. Cheers!”
Verdict:
Like
This is a pretty and sleek little bottle opener.  Over the years, I’ve tried to make myself a little bar set with cool looking tools so this will be nice to add to it.  This would also be a cute hostess gift when paired with some bottled drinks.  I couldn’t find this exact opener on their site, but I linked to a similar version.

Quiz Game
Wild and Wolf Ridley’s Games Room “Who Am I?” Quiz

(Suggested Retail: $12.95)
Description: ”Team up with friends to guess the celebrity in this exciting, easy-to-play game that you can bring anywhere.  It’s great for parties, too, because it’ll break the ice between even the shyest strangers! ”
Verdict: Okay
I ended up bringing this game to a friend’s house for hanging out and it was okay, but not super interesting.  Just some basic trivia  It’s a shame too because Wild and Wolf offers ther games that seem like more fun (like the “sing it back” game).

NCLANCLA Born on the 4th Swatch
NCLA Born on the 4th Nail Lacquer

(Suggested Retail: $16.00)
Description: “This patriotic (and cruelty-free!) red, white, and blue polish was exclusively developed with Popsugar, and we love how it can stand alone or be worn over another polish.”
Verdict: Hit!
By now you know how I feel about polish.  NCLA is a great (and pricey) brand and who doesn’t want red, white and blue glitter polish for the July 4th Holiday?  This set was exclusive to Popsugar, which makes it even more special.  If you missed out don’t worry NCLA has a ton of amazing polishes (including a mermaid inspired set), that are worth splurging over.

Compact Compact 2
KNOCK KNOCK Are you Ready (For Your Cloose-Up?) Compact
(Suggested Retail: $10.00)
Description: “Don’t worry about sand messing up this cheeky compact mirror – it’s durable ineough to throw into your beach bag for on-the-go touch-ups.”
Verdict: Gift
This compact just isn’t my aesthetic.  I know it’s durable because it’s plastic, but I have plenty of other durable compacts that are a little more stylish.  I do think this would suit a teen girl and be a great thing for her to throw in her bookbag or gym bag.

Deodorant Wipes
Pacifica Underarm Deodorant Wipes
(Suggested Retail: $9.00)
Description: “Staying fresh on the go has never been easier than with these travel-ready underarm wipes, which neutralize odors for hours – all with an aluminum-free, vegan formula.”
Verdict: Hit!
I love when boxes include interesting or luxury versions of every-day toiletry products.  I’ve never tried deodorant wipes before and they seem like they’d be perfect to keep in my gym bag or at work for freshening up.

Pressels
Pressels Sriracha
(Suggested retail value: $1.29)
Description: “Because they’ve got less fat and sodium than other popular chip options, you can enjoy the scrumptious hint of spice in these addictive snacks without feeling guilty.”
Verdict:
Like!
One of my boyfriend’s favorite snacks are pretzels so I passed these along to him.  As Chief Snack Officer (CSO) he declared they were “good”.  If you knew how picky he was you’d know that was quite a compliment.

OVERALL:
June Popsugar Must Have
Verdict:
Just Okay
This is the last box using my prepaid discount, so my total for this was $24.91, and the estimated retail came out to $119.24  At that price it’s a great deal, but overall the box was just a touch ho-hum for my taste. The sarong and trivia game were a  bit bland, and the compact was definitely geared toward a younger subscriber.  I did  like some items, but they were the less expensive of the bunch.  Not a terrible box by any stretch, but not all that interesting.  I’m hoping to see some more fashion-forward items in the fall boxes.

Be sure to come back for more Popsugar reviews including the Fall Limited Edition box.

Popsugar: May 2016 & Fall Limited Edition Presale!

Somehow in the madness that is my life, I completely forgot about my Popsugar Must Have subscription so I’m a few months behind and definitely overdue for a review.  Since we’ve waited long enough, let’s dive into the May 2016 Popsugar box.
Open Box

Bracelets
Bluma Project – Capri Bracelets – Set of 2

(Suggested Retail: $44.00)
Description: “These delicate bracelets are handcrafted by Guatemalan artisans.  You’ll love the calming combination of blue and gold hues, and won’t want to take these off all season!”
Verdict: Miss
I really appreciate supporting artisans, but these bracelets just aren’t worth $44 and the tassels just make them look even more inexpensive.  They aren’t hideous, but there’s not much to them.  You could craft something really similar, without much effort and for just a couple dollars worth of supplies.

Foot therapy
Kocostar Foot Therapy
(Suggested Retail: $10.00)
Description: ”Whether you’re howing off your feet in sandals or during a barefoot yoga session, this wrap treatment will give you soft soles using natural, paraben-free botanical extracts.”
Verdict:
Hit!
Foot masks are always awesome, but they are a great treat after you’ve been wearing flip flops all summer.

Spongology
Spongellé Spongology Body Buffer
(Suggested Retail: $20.00)
Description: ”Designed to cleanse, exfoliate, and massage, this body-wash-infused sponge lasts at least 20 washes – and because it’s made with organic extracts and sulfate- free ingredients, you can enjoy moisturizing in the shower worry-free. ”
Verdict: Like
We’ve seen the Spongelle brand in Popsugar boxes before and while a body buffer isn’t exciting, it’s definitely something I will use.

Mat
Gaiam Foldable Yoga Mat
(Suggested Retail: $24.98)
Description: “Ultralightweight and compact, this foldable yoga mat is easy to transport in your favorite toe bag.  Plus, its POPSUGAR-exclusive blue hue will help you reach your happy place before even beginning your yoga session.”
Verdict: Poor execution
Normally, I’m not too thrilled with workout items because they tend to be either water bottles (of which I have eleventybillion) or customized for routines/habits not everyone has.  A super portable yoga mat seemed like a great idea since you could use it for all kinds of different exercises and stretching.  I grabbed mine and took it to work to use in our tiny closet, er gym to use on my lunch hour.  I don’t need a super thick mat, but dear lord this thing has no cushioning whatsoever.  It’s really not much better than just being right on the floor.  Great idea, but terrible execution.

Spray
Happy Spritz Breathe Deeply
(Suggested Retail: $25.00)
Description: “Made with peppermint and eucalyptus essential oils, this spray helps naturally invigorate and soothe you.  Mist it over your face or breathe deeply while spritzing it on your yoga mat after an intense workout session.”
Verdict: On the Fence
I don’t really use aromatherapy sprays, but this sounds interesting.  Part of the fun of sub boxes is trying things outside my comfort zone, so I’ll give this a shot.

Jimmy Bar
JimmyBar! Peanut Butter Clutter JimmyBar! Clean Snack Bar

(Suggested Retail: $2.49)
Description: “Perfect for a pre-workout energy boost, this gluten-free and dairy-free bar is made without artificial anything.  Naturally sweet dates eliminate the need for added sugar, and peanut butter lends the saltiness you crave from a midday snack.”
Verdict: Okay
I swear every time someone uses “clean” to describe food, my eye starts twitching.  It’s the same way that people decry “chemicals” in their food.  (Because there are things not made of chemicals?)  Repeat after me, there are no damn “dirty” foods.  There is stuff you should eat only in moderation, or once a year on your birthday, but the food isn’t dirty.  And “clean” foods are not some magic pill that will make you skinny and safe from all health related problems.  Now, this bar tasted fine and it’s nice for folks that have gluten or dairy allergies.  I just hate the “clean” labeling nonsense.

Special Extras
Cayenne Water
Hint Kick Lemon Cayenne Water

(Suggested retail value: $1.69)
Description: “Each all-natural Hint Kick is infused with 60mg of caffeine – the equivalent of a small cup of coffee, minus the coffee-breath. Lightly flavored with a hint of your favorite fruit flavors, this refreshing drink is your perfect pick-me-up.”
Verdict:
@$#$#
You know what I’ve always said will make water more refreshing? Caffeine and cayenne.  Seriously?  I know this is a freebie, but come on.  This is not something that needs to exist.  This is the first time I contemplated just throwing out a product because I couldn’t think of someone who would even want to try it. (Eventually I just brought it to a BBQ to give away to whoever was brave enough).

Half Hitch Goods $10 Gift Card
Description: “Put this credit toward the purchase of a quality-crafted gift for yourself or someone you love.”
Verdict:
Not really an extra
Sorry I didn’t take a picture of this one as I often don’t really think of gift cards that require you to spend money as real extras.

Mascara
Revlon Volume + Length Magnified Mascara
(Suggested retail value: $8.99)
Description: “After using this megavolumizing mascara formula, get ready to experience rich, intense – lashes – if you’re looking to amp up your eyes this the perfect pick!”
Verdict:
Hit!
Mascara is a product I use every single day, so I love trying out different brands.

OVERALL:
Popsugar May 2016 Must Have
Verdict:
Disappointing
With my prepaid discount this box only cost me $24.91 and the estimated box value (excluding the special extras) was $126.47. Unfortunately, I just didn’t really like most of the items in the box.  I think my favorite product is probably the foot mask that only retails for $10.  The ideas for this box were good, like stackable bohemian style bracelets and a foldable yoga mat, but the actual items just didn’t deliver.  I’ve had some great boxes from Popsugar this year, so I guess it was time for a miss.  I’ve got lots more Popsugar reviews coming so be sure to check back.

POPSUGAR NEWS!
Presale

Popsugar launched a pre-sale for their Fall 2016 Limited Edition box.  The pre-sale is open to current subscribers.  As with most Popsugar Limited Edition boxes it costs $100 and so far no spoilers.  My birthday is in October, so I’m considering snagging one as a gift to myself, but I’m just not ready to commit until I have a better idea of what’s inside.

Am I totally out of touch with my hatred of the Hint Kick water, or would you love to try a caffeine infused lemon cayenne water?

Popsugar: April 2016 & Full CFDA Spoilers!

So it’s that time again to get caught up with some of regular subscriptions, so we’re heading back for my review on the April 2016 Popsugar box plus I’ve got the full spoilers for Popsugar’s uber expensive Limited Edition CFDA box.

Let’s get to it. Popsugar introduced some new packaging, but it’s really not too different than the ones we’ve received before.

CookbookCookbook Open
Chrissy Teigen’s Cravings: Recipes for All the Food You Want to Eat

(Suggested Retail: $17.99)
Description: “When cracking open this gorgeous book, prepare for big flavors and even bigger personality from supermodel and foodie Chrissy Teigen.  These craveable concoctions include some of husband John Legend’s top picks. We dare you to declare your favorite.”
Verdict: Love!
I love cooking and I’ve pinned a bunch of recipes from Chrissy Teigen’s blog so this right up my alley. This cookbook has had a ton of buzz so it’s definitely on trend in the foodie category.  Chrissy is a supermodel but these are not healthy recipes. (I think I became lactose intolerant just by reading how much cheese was in the mac & cheese), so consider this book geared more toward the occasional indulgence.  I’m going to use this  to fill my “book written by a celebrity” slot for my 2016 Popusgar Reading Challenge, so come back for a full review and my attempts at making a few recipes from this bad boy.

Salt & Pepper
Canvas Home Tinware Salt & Pepper Shakers
(Suggested Retail: $12.00)
Description: ”When we first laid eyes on these vintage-looking hand-glazed salt and pepper shakers from Canvas Home’s bestselling Tinware collection, we knew we had to have them.  Like something from an antique fair, a combination of functionality and beauty makes these shakers a fabulous addition to any kitchen.”
Verdict:
Like/Gift
I’m a sucker for vintage things, and while I like the look of these ceramic shakers, I wish they actually were enamel tin rather than just painted to seem that way.  I already own salt and pepper shakers I love, but these are a nice size and I’ll either use them for when I’m hosting or give them as part of a gift.

Espresso
Next by Nature Dark Chocoalte Covered Espresso Beans
(Suggested Retail: $3.99)
Description: ”These dark chocolate espresso bites are a natural alternative to your favorite candy – free of gluten, corn syrup, and preservatives, they are a healthier way to satisfy your sweet tooth.  Made with real espresso beans, try a handful of these instead of your usual cup of coffee!”
Verdict: Miss
I love espresso and dark chocolate, but I’m not a fan of eating espresso beans straight up.  I imagine a lot of other subscribers feel the same way.  Next by Nature has a ton of products including chocolate covered fruit which I think would have been a nicer option for the Spring and appealed to more customers.

Pharmacy CreamPharmacy Packaging
FARMACY Sleep Tight Firming Night Balm
(Suggested Retail: $48.00)
Description: “After applying this lightweight balm before bedtime, it transforms into a gentle oil gel to replenish your skin overnight.  Firming, protective, and nourishing ingredients work to balance skin and prevent the appearance of wrinkles.”
Verdict: Love!
FARMACY is a brand that is popping up everywhere and was also featured in Popsugar’s April Mini Box.  I find this product to be far more interesting than the lip balm included in the mini.  I love night creams and the description of this turning into a gentle oil gel sounds really intriguing.  I’ll be adding this into rotation with my current night mask.

Tea Towel
NOON DESIGN SHOP “Lemons’ Flour Sack Tea Towel
(Suggested Retail: $18.00)
Description: “Handmade in the US, this supersoft towel isn’t just cheery to look at – its cotton fabric gets better with every wash.  Don’t be afraid to use this beauty around the kitchen; you can throw it in the washer and dryer anytime.”
Verdict: Love!
I know this will sound weird but I’m kind of obsessed with kitchen towels—tea towels in particular.  I love stocking my kitchen with all kinds of funky designs and the cheerful print fit right in my drawer full of flowers, bunny and nautical prints.

Poppy Lotion
Royal Apothic Field Poppy Conservatories Hand Creme
(Suggested Retail: $24.00)
Description: “Royal Apothic’s rich formulas are inspired by recipes from an antique apotheraries manual – this hand crème’s sentimental note of fig, tea, jasmine, lily, moss and leaf will instantly transport you to a meadow of vibrant blooms.”
Verdict: Hit!
This hand cream is so pretty.  I know I should use it as a gift since I have a giant product stockpile, but I think I want to hoard it for winter so I can throw it in my commuter bag and think of brighter days.

Special Extra
Bloom Card

BLOOM THAT $20 Gift Card
Description: “BloomThat transformed the floral delivery market by creating a stress-free way to send gorgeous blooms to those you love.  Use this $20 to treat yourself or a love done to one of its beautiful arrangements!”
Verdict:
Miss
I don’t like extras that are strictly gift cards where you need to spend money in order to use them.  I’m sure this was helpful to the subscribers wanting to send flowers on Mother’s Day but it just wasn’t for me.

OVERALL:

With my prepaid discount this box only cost me $24.91 and the estimated box value (excluding the special extra) was $123.98. I loved the big ticket items in this box and except for the espresso beans, I felt like it had a fresh spring theme that was very cohesive.  Popsugar’s been doing a great job this year with the curation on their regular subscription.  I’d love to see that attention translate over to their mini and LE boxes.

Popsugar: May Must Have Mini & LE Summer Presale!

Popsugar recently launched a downsized version of their subscription box called The Must Have Mini.  The box costs $18.95 and features two full sized items with no overlap for their regular sub, so you can opt to receive both if you want some extra Popsugar in your life.

Last month’s introductory mini box left me pretty underwhelmed.  I opted to give this sub one more chance to wow me, or at least give me the idea that they would attempt to send something interesting.

So let’s dive into the second Must Have Mini Box:
Box  Open Box

BottleJuicer Piece
Zing Anything Bottle

(Suggested Retail: $12.99)
Description: “This 22 ounce citrus-infuser bottle is the perfect size for bringing to a steamy yoga session or on the go.”
Verdict: Does anyone not have a fancy water bottle by now?  Anyone? Hands?
I guess when I crossed my fingers that Popsugar wouldn’t send a water bottle in their subscription, I clearly should have been more specific.  While it didn’t show up in the regular Must Have box, it made its appearance in the mini.  You know, because when you only have two slots in a box, you should totes choose something incredibly generic that shows up in nearly every women’s lifestyle sub.  Also as far as water bottles go, this one isn’t even attractive.  ZingAnything has cuter ones (which I own and not surprisingly got from a sub box) so it’s not even a great choice in that regard.

H20Gel
H20+ Oasis Hydrating Treatment

(Retail: $38.00)
Description: ”This bestselling product from H20+ for a quarter of a century, this treatment will hydrate your skin for a softer smoother look..”
Verdict:
Okay
A moisturizer.  You know cause, those are so rare in sub boxes.  This seems like a nice enough product and I like that it’s a gel, but it’s just not that interesting.  We get plenty of moisturizers from pretty high end brands in the regular Popsugar so I’m just not feeling that this is all that special. I tried this out and while it feels immediately hydrating, it doesn’t seem like it keeps my skin soft (if that makes sense). The included card suggested using this under make in the morning so I think I’ll try it out that way.

OVERALL:
May 2016 Popsugar Mini
Verdict:
Canceled
We’ll start with the positives. With tax I ended up paying $20.28 for this box and the retail value came out to $50.99, so that was a nice improvement over the first box.  It seems the mini boxes are continuing the regular subscriptions theme so this is clearly a “hydration” box but the choices made were so lackluster.  If I were curating this box I’d try something like a cool pitcher and maybe a hydrating scalp treatment.  Things that fit the theme, but don’t show up in every other box.

After two months of these boxes, I’ve figured out that this sub is basically for people who don’t have a bunch of other subscriptions.  If you’ve never subscribed to a sub box, you *might* enjoy this, but if you’re a subscription junkie, there is absolutely no point for you to get this subscription.  You get the same items that make the rounds in all the other boxes – including the main Popsugar box.  The four items they’ve sent out so far: A Candle, a lip balm, a water bottle, and a moisturizer.  That doesn’t scream out “must have” – it screams out “we already have”.  This could be a really interesting sub, featuring more unique finds but instead it’s a snoozefest.  Really disappointing.

I’ve canceled for now, but if the box curation changes I might give it a try again.

What did you think of the Popsugar Mini Box?
Am I being too hard on the little guy, or do you find the items as boring as I do?

POPSUGAR NEWS!
Summer LE Box Presale! The Limited Edition Summer box will be on sale May 19 at 10am PDT
LE Summer Presale
Description: “As the weather heats up, prepare yourself with stylish essentials made to keep you cool in every way. Spending time outdoors never looked so good.”
Cost: $100.00
This box is typically pretty popular and I think if you want to gamble on an LE box, the summer box is probably most likely to have some really fun stuff.  If I see some fabulous spoilers I might treat myself to this, but unless something compelling comes out, I’m sticking with my LE No Buy.

Popsugar: March 2016 & another CFDA Spoiler!

It’s another rainy day in NYC and my best way of fighting it is with Harry Belafonte tunes (Shake, Shake Shake Senora!) and by wearing my favorite Jeffrey Cambell boots. I’ve been quite distracted and apparently been saving my March Popsugar review for a rainy day (which seems to be every day this week). Besides the scoop on this box I’ve also got another CFDA spoiler for you and the inspiration for the May Must Have Box, so let’s jump in.
Open Box Open Box 2

Watch On Wrist
Nanette Lepore Classic Rose Gold Watch
(Suggested Retail: $55.00)
Description: “We can’t get enough of the rose gold trend, and you’ll understand why after slipping this stylish watch on your wrist. The strap on this elegant timepiece – exclusively designed by Popsugar – is neutral enough to wear with all of your favorite outfits.”
Verdict: Love!
I love this watch so so so much. Rose gold is on trend and I have so little of it, and this watch is so classic and elegant I can wear it in a million different ways. The pale strap color works well with my skin tone and is perfect as we head into warmer weather. I love that it’s an exclusive and looks a lot more expensive than the $55 retail value. A great pick.

Palette
Pixi by Petra Book of Beauty, Minimal Makeup
(Suggested Retail: $24.00)
Description: ”Complete with two highlighters, two cheek tints, and four eye shadows, this sophisticated beauty kit is your new secret weapon for creating the perfect ‘no make’ look. Its luminous, barely there hues will subtly enhance your natural glow, eliminating the guesswork from your daily beauty routine.”
Verdict:
Like/Gift
I didn’t remove this from the packaging or swatch it because I may end up using it as a gift. I think the shades are lovely and they do look like a great natural makeup collection. I currently have so many neutral palettes, I didn’t want to open another. I regularly clear out my makeup case and add in new things so this might make it into the next rotation. For ladies that aren’t makeup junkies with too much overflow, I’m sure this was a great pick.

Necklace Necklace Close
Miss Ivy Pearl Five-Tassel Necklace
(Suggested Retail: $38.00)
Description: ”Our editors can’t get enough of tassels these days1 Minimal enough to be worn with other beachy baubles or fun enough to wear on its own, this piece will quickly become one of your favorites.”
Verdict: Almost, but not quite
Popsugar didn’t have a link for this in the included card so I’m going to assume it’s an exclusive product. Now tassels are on trend and popping up everywhere.  They can look festival chic or horribly cheap. Unfortunately I think this falls a bit on the latter side. The color  is lovely, but the fringe on the tassel has super thin strands and it just screams out curtain tie from 1979. I kept the plastic cover on it, because I think as soon as I take it off, this thing will start disintegrating in record time. I love the color and the idea, it just needed better execution. I also am not seeing $38 here.

Govino
Govino Go-Anywhere Carafe and Water Glass Set
(Suggested Retail: $14.95)
Description: “It’s easy to stay hydrated when you can do it in style! Use this shatterproof carafe and glass to hit your daily water intake goal, and because the set is mad BPA-free polymer that resembles fine crystal, it will easily elevate any bedside table or picnic.”
Verdict: Love!
This was perfectly timed because I’d been looking for a carafe and glass set for my bathroom (to use with mouthwash). Most were glass and in my teeny-tiny, overcrowded bathroom I was sure I’d knock it over. This version is plastic and unbreakable so perfectly suited for my purposes. This would also be great to keep on a bedroom nightstand. I couldn’t find this exact set on the Govino site, but I linked to a similar one with two glasses.

Toothpaste
Hello Extra Whitening Fluoride Toothpaste
(Suggested Retail: $4.49)
Description: “Feel good about your dental hygiene when brushing with this peroxide- and preservative-free toothpaste. Good for you and the earth!) From start to finish, this extra-whitening paste is vegan, packaged in a recyclable carton and made in the USA.”
Verdict: Love!
One of my wishlist items for sub boxes this year were more everyday luxury items, so I’m actually excited to get fancy toothpaste. I really appreciate the “green” qualities to this brand.

Toffee Cookies
Goodie Girl Cookies – Toffee Chaos
(Suggested Retail: $4.99)
Description: “You don’t have to live a gluten-free lifestyle to love these tasty toffee cookies! Made with kosher dairy and sans peanuts, Goodie Girl’s delicious bites have a low fat, sugar and calorie content that makes them better for your body and taste buds.”
Verdict: Hit!
These were super tasty. I paired them with the lemon cookies and tea I got from my Try the World box and had a little tea party in my living room. I thought it was quite nice for Popsugar to include a gluten free treat for the folks that often get left out of the fun baked goods.

Special Extra
Lola
LOLA Gift Card

Description: “Many feminine care products use synthetic ingredients and harsh chemicals, bu LOLA’s 100 percent cotton tampons are refreshingly different. Use your gift card to pick up a box, then check out its customizable subscription service.”
Verdict:
Miss
Despite being a sub box junkie, I’m very particular about my feminine hygiene products so I’m not going to use this one. It does look like the card covers 1 box of tampons so at least you don’t have to spend money in order to use it.

OVERALL:
March 2016 Popsugar
Verdict:
Hit!
With my prepaid discount this box only cost me $24.91 and the estimated box value (excluding the special extra) was $141.43. I loved the watch so much that it really made everything else in the box an extra. I thought the box had a nice light spring feel to it and that the curation made a lot of sense. This was another good collection from Popsugar.

 SPOILERS!
THE CFDA Box

Spoiler #2:
CFDA Spoiler 2
Description: “For the second year in a row, we’re proud to launch our limited-edition Must Have box with the Council of Fashion Designers of America. This fashion collaboration has little luxuries perfect for a relaxing day by the pool or a weekend filled with sun and music. Fifty percent of POPSUGAR’s profits from each box will be donated to the CFDA, in support of the CFDA mission to strengthen American fashion in the global economy.”
Cost: $225.00
Spoiler: every box includes a pair of Illesteva Leonard sunglasses.
Popsugar has released a second spoiler for their CFDA box. (To see the first one, check out my review of the April Mini Box). I’m guessing after last year’s CFDA box disaster, sales on this one are slow. These shades definitely look fun, but they haven’t swayed my resolve in staying far away from this LE box.

May Must Have Inspiration
May Spoiler

Popsugar has released the inspiration for the May Must Have box. I’m going to be a bit controversial and say that I’m disappointed. I sort of hate fitness items in non-fitness sub boxes. You end up with a cardio DVD even if you don’t have space to do use it or a jump rope when you have joint problems. Fitness is so personalized that it can be difficult to find items that really work for a majority of folks.  I’m also hoping hydration doesn’t mean we get yet another water bottle. I have glass, plastic, with filters and fruit infusers and so on. I really don’t need or want any more of them.

What do you think of the May theme? Are you disappointed like me, or looking forward to it?

Popsugar: April Must Have Mini & LE CFDA Box Spoiler!

Popsugar recently launched a downsized version of their subscription box called The Must Have Mini. The box costs $18.95 and features two full sized items with no overlap for their regular sub, so you can opt to receive both if you want some extra Popsugar in your life.
Mini

Despite my ongoing issues with Popsugar customer service, I usually love the items I actually get so I decided to give this one a chance for a month or two (and of course it’s super exciting to review the inaugural box of any sub).

So let’s see what our very first Must Have Mini box has inside:
Box Open Box

CandleCoupon
Greenmarket Purveying Co. White Melon Pantry Candle

(Retail 7 oz: $16.00)
Description: “Hand-poured in small batches by a US artisan chandler, this soy-blend candle has notes of fresh melon, sweet peach, zest citrus, and comforting vanilla.”
Verdict: Like
To start this candle smells amazing, like the best watermelon candy except not cloying at all. The only thing is, it’s well, a candle. I love candles don’t get me wrong but if you’re a sub box subscriber, you get tons of them. It just seems like a bit of a boring choice for one of two slots in the very first box of the subscription. It also came with a coupon for a discount on Greenmarket Purveying Co.’s site, which was a nice bonus.

Lip BalmLip Balm Packaging Lip Balm Open
FARMACY Lip Bloom in Lavender Mint
(Retail: $16.50)
Description: ”Farmacy’s unique variant of Echinacea works with natural seed oils to form a protective barrier that leads to softer, fuller lips – combine these natural benefits with the refreshing scent of your favorite herbs, and you’ve got the perfect lip balm.”
Verdict:
Lovely but boring
Think of the very next thing that overflows from sub boxes right after candles? If you guessed lip balms, ding, ding, you are a winner! This has lovely packaging, and the scent seems nice, but it’s just a fancy lip balm. Not really much to write home about.

OVERALL:
Popsugar Must Have Mini April 2016
Verdict:
Phoned In
We’ll start with the positives. With tax I ended up paying $20.28 for this box and the retail value came out to $32.50, so it definitely delivered in that regard. This box had a spring feel and was seasonably appropriate. Each item was high quality and well suited for gift giving (particularly Mother’s Day). Unfortunately, the items were painfully dull. The only thing missing from making this the “crap you always get in sub boxes” was the inclusion of a mascara. And it’s probably only absent because Popsugar was limited to two full size pieces. With a box of only two items, at least one needs to be a rockstar and both of these were painfully ordinary sub-box fodder. They would be fine in a box filled with other things, but as a set they just don’t scream out “must have”. Also consider that this is the very first box of this subscription and it seems even less inspired. Popsugar really phoned this one in. I’m going to hold on to the sub for another month or two, just to see if it improves, but if I end up with a stack of mascara and lip gloss I’m bailing.

What do you think of Popsugar’s new lower cost offering? Would you have enjoyed this box for the price or found it as lackluster as I did?

Spoiler: every box includes a classic split cover up from lemlem by supermodel Liya Kebede
Last year’s CFDA box was probably Popsugar’s most controversial box ever. There was all kinds of drama from changing prices to misrepresented items, so Popsugar actually broke down and offered returns. Head over to my 2015 review for all the dirty details. This year they’ve opted to release a spoiler and it certainly looks intriguing. Last year’s box was painfully devoid of actual fashion items, so it seems Popsugar learned their lesson. After last year, I’m not willing to risk so much money on a Popsugar LE box, but if you love the spoiler it may be worth the gamble to you.

Tilo Heart Print Scarf
(Suggested Retail: $125.00)
Description: “Beautifully organize your things with this Must Have exclusive storage bin – great for your hats, scarves, toys, books, or anything that needs a home. We love the gray spotted print, which can easily tie into any room décor.”
Verdict: Gift
This is a lovely scarf and super soft, but I have so many scarves and this one just didn’t call to me, and I’m actively trying to trim down my clothes hoarding, closet. I did think it would make a great Valentine’s day gift for my Mom, so I passed it along to her. It’s definitely pretty and perfectly suited for a February box, although I couldn’t imagine paying $125 for it.

(Suggested Retail: $50.00)
Description: ”Unlike cleansers that leave you dry, this formula uses carefully sourced ingredients to remove makeup and impurities while also moisturizing skin. Prepare to feel pampered as you rinse it off with the soft muslin cloth included.”
Verdict:
Love!
I’m obsessed with trying out unique cleansers so this is right up my alley. I also have never tried this brand before so I’m excited for something new. I really love it when we get fancy/unusual versions of everyday items. I think it’s a great way for us to add a little luxury or surprise to our everyday beauty routines.

JewelryStorm Endless Arrow Ring
(Suggested Retail: $28.00)
Description: ”This dainty ring has just the right amount of bling to wear alone or stacked with other pieces. Because of its versatility, you can even try using it as a midi ring to mix things’ up!”
Verdict: Great Idea, Mediocre Execution
I love getting adjustable rings in boxes. They are versatile and fun. I actually own a similar ring to this one that is just a simple arrow with no rhinestones and I do wear it regularly. My problem with this piece is that to me, it just looks a little cheap. It’s like something you’d find in Claire’s. It’s really the rhinestones that make it look a bit young and inexpensive. I think if this had just been a simple gold plated arrow ring it would have been infinitely better. It’s still a nice way to incorporate Valentine’s day and I do think a lot of subscribers would probably like it. It also came with a coupon code.

Tray
Fringe Studio Hello Beautiful Square Tray
(Suggested Retail: $14.00)
Description: “This kiln-fired glass tray is an elegant accessory for your desk or vanity – and the perfect daily reminder that you’re truly beautiful.”
Verdict: Hit!
This little tray is lovely and adorable for corralling rings on your dresser or paperclips on your desk. Mine is now sitting on top of my media console in the living room.

Victoria’s Secret Coconut Milk Hydrating Body Lotion (Suggested Retail: $22.00)
Description: “The exclusive hydrating formula of this soothing lotion will help moisturize your body, even during the chilliest months of the year. You’ll feel gorgeous from head to toe!”
Verdict: Like
I’m always happy to get lotion that smells like food. Coconut makes me think of summer so this will be a nice reminder that the end of winter is in sight.

FoodStirsFoodStirs Close
Foodstirs Heart cookie Mix
(Suggested Retail: $12.95)
Description: “Cofounded by Sarah Michelle Gellar, Foodstirs wants you to add a personal touch to your favorite bites. Because this festive cookie kit is free of artificial ingredients, GMOs and preservatives you can feel good about baking sweet treats with all the loves in your life!”
Verdict: Love!
First, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is my favorite show ever, so I am a huge fan of Sarah Michelle Gellar. Second, I’ve been wanting to try out a Foodstirs subscription since I first heard it was coming out, but thanks to my giant baking hoard and Weight Watcher’s hard stance against sugar I haven’t tried it yet. I’m so excited to try this kit and I had a great plan to make these for Valentine’s Day and blog about it all for you guys and then..I got the flu. Which is why I’m still working my way through 80,000 (approximately) February boxes. I do promise that eventually I will make these and take pictures and we’ll get to dish.

These are surprisingly good quality socks. I never thought to go to Victoria Secret for my sport socks, but I these are great and I will definitely consider it.
This also came with:
Victoria’s Secret Reward Card
Description: “Victoria’s Secret is sharing a $20 gift just for you – it works just like a gift card when used within the valid dates, so treat yourself to something special!”
This cared is pictured with the lotion earlier up on this post. I don’t usually buy much from Victoria’s Secret but maybe I’ll use these for some new socks!

OVERALL:
February 2016 Popsugar
Verdict:
Hit!
With my prepaid discount this box only cost me $24.91 and the estimated box value (excluding the special extras) was $251.95. I do think the price of the scarf is inflated, but this is still a great value. Some of the items weren’t exactly to my taste, but I thought they fit the season really well and that the curation was thoughtful. I think a lot of subscribers would adore this box and it was a perfect fit for the Valentine’s Day holiday.
